ANCIENT FOREST - PRINCE GEORGE, B.C.
August 5, 2007
Eleven hikers came out on Sunday, August 5 to enjoy the huge cedar trees at the Ancient Forest. Although thunder rumbled all around us, we didn't get wet!
The "Big Tree" for which the forest is famous is 43 ft in circumference (about 15 m in diameter) and is estimated to be at least 2000 years old. Just think, this trees was growing when Jesus was alive.
The hike is pretty easy and takes only 2 hours (with photo breaks). There's a bit of a climb up onto the bench, and then it's more or less even with a few small ups and downs. It's definitely a great family outing and the waterfall keeps the kids entertained!
Check out the Grrapevine for the date and time of our next hike, or phone the parish office for more info.
