Round 1 played 18th September 2004 _________________________________________________________________________________ Under 8 Our first game of the season. Actually the first time the team had met each other. After a quick introduction to training we got down to business. The team showed it's talewnts in all departments. Aman bowled particularly well with a return of 2 for 8 Andre hit the team's first "4" for the season and the only one in the innings. Good fielding by Luke,Lachlan, Hayden and Kieran _________________________________________________________________________________ Under 9 Under 9 v Colyton St. Clair This week the St Clair Hawks under 9 boys took on a bunch of girls and I mean that respectfully, the Colyton Colts formed an all girls team for our first match with all of the boys making their debut for the club. Kurt Ward was the captain for round 1 and he won the tossand elected to bat. Keegan Jones ans Blake Rayner opened the batting and got us off to a great start with 30 runs off 24 balls with 23 runs coming off the bat, next in was Luke Micalle and Kurt Ward scoring 14 runs to keep the run rate flowing. Our third pair were Thomas Grenell and Jaden Stevens scoring 14 rune to take our tally to 2 for 64, Our tailenders Joshua Humphries and Jake Burns put more runs on the board taking our team total to 3 for 79. Our fielding was a bit rusty but our bowling has a lot of potential with the Colyton girls only scoring 4 runs off the bat in 16 overs. Well done boys, The wicket takers were Keegan Jones 2 for 2 ,Blake Rayner 1 for 1. Marcus Pasfield Hopefully will be back next week after injury _________________________________________________________________________________ Round 2 played 26th September 2004 _________________________________________________________________________________ Under 8 A very close match in our second game of the season. The team batted well but unfortunately we had too many "outs" but that's cricket. Exellent batting performances by Aman (16 runs from two bats) and Lachlan (10 runs) with both hitting two "4"s a piece! Good bowling by Daniel (1 for 10) and Aman (1 for 4) There was a notable improvement in our fielding in this match. Good fielding performances by Andre,Kieran and Hayden. _________________________________________________________________________________ Round 3 played 9th October 2004 _________________________________________________________________________________ Under 8 In only our fourth game of the season the team is starting to unveil it's cricket potential. Lead by our Captain of the week Kieran KIRK, the team was up against a big hitting Penrith R.S.L. team who closed their innings at 4 for 89 having lost only two wickets , our defensive batting was the key to this win. Good batting performances by Amanjit (9 runs) Lachlan (8 runs) and Daniel (2 runs) . Andre continues to improve his bowling and returned great figures of 3 for 18. Kieran and Luke did a great job behind the stumps Well done team. _________________________________________________________________________________ Under 9 A bye this week for the under 9s _________________________________________________________________________________ Round 4 played 16th October 2004 _________________________________________________________________________________ Under 8 A fine performance by the team. There was some very solid batting by Hayden (21 runs from 2 bats) Kieran (7 runs) and Aman ( 7 runs) Hayden and Lachlan kept well behind the stumps good bowling figures for all of the team Kieran (0 for 6) Aman (1 for 5) Lachlan (1 for 9) Hayden (2 for 3) and Andre (2 for 13) The most pleasing factor of the match was that our young cricketers are putting what they learn at training into matches, in particular, their calling between wickets and backing up in the field Well done team Also a special thanks to the Springwood team for supplying us with two of their team members Well played Cameron and Zac _________________________________________________________________________________ Under 9
_________________________________________________________________________________ Round 5 played 23rd October 2004 _________________________________________________________________________________ Under 8 We were outplayed by a better team on the day, but our young cricketers continue to enjoy their cricket!. Unfortunately for our Captain Daniel his cousin's team won out the day. It was an interesting day of "firsts" first maiden overs bowled by Aman and Lachlan and a first attemp at a hat trick by Daniel. Exellent batting performances by Aman (15 runs) and Hayden (10 runs) Exellent Bowling Figures from Daniel (2 for ^0 and Andre (0 for 3) Good fielding by Kieran and Luke who were kept busy by the Gllenmore Park batsmen Keep up the good work boys _________________________________________________________________________________ Under 9 Today we played Glenbrook/Blaxland (Warne) at Regatta, we were one of the lucky ones to get a game of cricket after all the rain. Nearly all of the bowlers bowled well with a wicket to K Jones thanks to a great catch from K Ward also a runout to K Jones. we still need to work on our bowling with too many no balls Glenbrook were 2 for 90 with an average of 35 Then we went out to bat with Marcos and Kurt opening and putting on 8 runs. Then Keegan and Joshua scored 1 run, Jayden and Thomas put on onother 1 run. With Luke and Jake putting on 9 runs But unfortunately we had 3 outs Our score of 3 for 37 with an average of 19. Our first loss of the season ,better luck next week. All the boys seem to be enjoying the cricket so that is the main thing ______________________________________________________________________________________ Round 6 played 30th October 2004 _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Under 8 Good batting by Amanjit (5 runs) and Lachlan ( 4 runs) Exellent bowling by Amanjit ( 1for 3 runs) Lachlan (1 for 4 runs) Luke ( 1 for 7 runs) Hayden (0 for 4) I am pleased with Andre,Daniel and Kieran's improvement in their bowling action, keep up the good work boys. The highlight of the day was our running between the wickets. This is an area where we continued to improve with our cricketers making good, loud calls _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Under 9 We played Glenbrook/Blaxland (Gilchrist) at Fowler. We batted first and this team had a lot of great bowlers which limited us to 13 runs off the bat our total 1 for 35 Our bowling was a lot better today with 16 less no-balls than last week. Glenbrook were 5 for 65 with an average of 13 which gave us the win. Blake was 1 for 10, Luke 1 for 13, Keegan 1 for 8 Kurt 1 for 12 and Marcos 1 for 3 after a great caught and bowled. It is great to see the boys having fun and getting better each week. __________________________________________________________________________________ Round 7 played 6th November 2004 _________________________________________________________________________________ Under 8 A good win to our young cricketers. I was impressed with our allround performance. Good fielding by Andre and Kieran. An exellent bowling performance by Daniel who continues to improve every week ___________________________________________________________________________________________ Round 8 played the 13th November 2004 _________________________________________________________________________________________ under 8 This day will be remembered as a blustery day when the stumps kept falling over. However against this adversity the team performed well. Everyone continues to improve in all areas, in particular the field. Another good run-out this week to Lachlan. Excellent backing up in the field as well. Keep up the good work!!
_______________________________________________________________________________________- Under 9 Today we played at Burton Field at Werrington. We let Emu Plains bat first as they only had 5 players when it was time to start. Our boys all bowled well with a lot less no-balls this week. Keep up the good work. We had them 0 for 46 runs. Our first partnership of Thomas and Jayden saw us 1 for 9, a bit unlucky with a runout. Then Jake and Joshua took us to a total of 1 for 17. Then came Marcus and Kurt with some quick runs and a score of 1 for 30. Westill needed 17 runs and could not lose another wicket . Our last pair Keegan and Blake took us to 1 for 39 off two overs and with 2 overs to go it became a very exiting game Next over we were 1 for 47 and had won the game but we could not lose another wicket. In the end we were 1 for 51 and had won a hard game. Well done to all of the boys _____________________________________________________________________________________ |
