There once was a television show and comic book by the name of Sailor Moon. It starred a group of five, Sailor-suited girls who fought evil, and was insanely popular. These five girls were joined by more Sailor-suited warriors and an array of evil villains whom they fought.

This is not that show.

Sailor Myth is a role-playing game based off that show and comic book, but it requires no background on the series. None of those original characters exist in the Sailor Myth universe. In fact, none of the events in Sailor Moon took place. Here is the Sailor Myth story.

Millions of years ago, the universe was created, and a single being was entrusted with it's care -- the Universalis Senshi. The Universalis Senshi spread life across the galaxy on every planet possible, and from this life came the senshi, specially empowered people representing the life force charged with its protection. This senshi were known as the Astronomia Senshi.

Besides this dimension, known as the Light Universe, there also existed the Dark Universe. This universe was similarly created by the Dark Universalis Senshi and existed as a balance to the Light Universe. For many years these two universes were perfectly peaceful, until a huge war erupted, destroying most of the life in the universe. In the end, the Astronomia Senshi were able to preserve what little life remained by sacrificing themselves to close the link to the Dark Universe. This measure was not permanent, however.

Of the remaining planets, none was more powerful in its energy force than Earth. On Earth, the humans sought for explanations for the world around them, and brought into being angels and gods. The angels, unfortunately, fought amongst one another, using their powers until they were almost powerless, and became sleeping spirits, destined to be reawakened as Senshi. The gods were just as petty as the angels, also destroying themselves until future rebirth.

That was then. This is now.

A few of the sleeping Senshi have recovered their powers to an extent and have been reborn. Many of the past senshi will never return, as all of the people who populated their planet or star system have long since died away. Just as the galaxy's population disappeared, so too will the Senshi. Only one percent will ever awaken. Perhaps that one percent will be able to defend Earth from whatever trials lay ahead, but in truth, nobody really knows.
