How she became a senshi: While in the cryogenisis chamber, the diamond (her sailor crystal)mutated Kumi's body to stay cryogenically frozen when she transformed into Sailor Arctic, which is why she has "dead eyes" while in henshin form. Once Kumi awoke,(she wasn't aware of what the queen had done yet) she found out that Kiyoshi had been brainwashed, along with Darien, into working for the Negaverse, (only he wasn't healed the same time Darien was)and that the king and queen had been murdered. Kumiko vowed to find out who the assassin was, who hired him, and why they killed the king and queen. When Kiyoshi attacked, the scouts ambushed and easily overpowered him. Sailor Moon was readying the Spiral Heart Moon Sceptor, when Kumi broke free from Mercury, who was tending to her, and ran to protect him.(Kiyoshi had attacked her for her energy) In a desperate attempt to stop her, Mercury froze her in a block of ice with her Shine Aqua Illusion attack. The ice from the attack triggered the long dormant diamond and caused Kumi to transform. The ice shattered, and Arctic continued running as if nothing had happened. Without even realizing what was going on, Sailor Moon released her attack. Sailor Arctic was suddenly hit with knowledge of what to do. She called her Arctic Tundra Gale at the last minute. The two attacks collided and disentigrated leaving Arctic and Kiyoshi unharmed. That same night, Queen Dimitori appeared to Kumiko in a dream and explained what she had done and (briefly)what Kumi's mission was. Kiyoshi was later healed after Kumi gave him back his memory. Eventually, Kumi found out that the assassin was named Doki-Kariudo, meaning wrathful hunter. She went after him, and before killing him found out why the king and queen were killed. She also found out that the people who hired Doki-Kariudo were King Kagehonoo ,meaning shadow flame, and Queen Kagehana ,meaning shadow flower, the supreme rulers of the Shadow Realm. Since the Negaverse and the Moon Kingdom had fallen at the same time, the Earth was the only force that stood against the Shadow Realm from taking over the Universe. Fortunately, the Shadow Realm didn't have many warriors at that time, and the Negaverse broke free which stalled the attack by the Shadow Realm, but this blessing was also a curse. When the Negaverse broke free, it also gave the Shadow Realm the warriors necessary to build up a deadly army. Every minion, youma,and monster that the sailor scouts defeat is sent to the Shadow Realm giving them more men. It is eventually discovered, after the Moon Kingdom and Elysion are recreated and Neo-crystal Tokyo is born, that the senshi of life (Sailor Arctic) and the senshi of rebirth/destruction(Sailor Saturn) are the only warriors of the Universe that can stand against the Shadow Realm, and the only weapons that can destroy the warriors and the king and queen are Arctic's bident (staff) and Saturn's glaive, but when it comes down to the final battle, Kumiko will be the only one powerful enough to stop the Shadow Realm from consuming the Earth. |
