Episode 8 shown on September 19, 1999)

PARITRAANAAYA SADHUNAAM
VINAASHAAYA CHA DUSHKRITAAM
DHARMASANSTHAAPANAADHAAYA
SAMBHAVAMI YUGE YUGE

This verse of the Bhagavad Gita as always is recited melodiously with the picture in the background of our beloved Puttaparthi Sai in a blessing posture , before the start of the 8th episode.

The moments of physical separation from Shirdi Sai Avathar are again shown today to make us all relive the tragic moments. But His words resonate, that this body, even of an Avathar is impermanent and at the appointed time it perishes as it should. Also His last words, before He attained Samadhi are again repeated for our consolation: Exactly 8 years from now I will reincarnate in the village of Puttaparthi, in Anantapur district.

The current episode then starts from the scene of the students camp on the outskirts of Puttaparthi. The teacher (Sowcar Janaki) narrates to the students about the reincarnation of Sri Sathya Saibaba in Puttaparthi which happens exactly as foretold by Shirdi Sai Baba.

The marriage of Easwaramma with Sri Pedda Venkappa Raju, the elder son of Sri Ratnakaram Kondama Raju, is performed by Subba Raju the father of the bride and thus Easwaramma comes to the house of Konadama Raju as his divine daughter-in-law. The couple in due time become parents of a son by name, Seshama Raju, and two daughters Venkamma and Parvathamma respectively. Around this time the Revenue collectors office under whose jurisdiction Puttaparthi fell, takes very strict measures to recover tax dues from the villagers even though they have had a very poor crop and no revenue at all that particular year. They come and forcibly take away all the belonging of the villagers, including their cooking utensils. The village chief later learning about this takes the villagers along with him to the house of Kondama Raju who is held in high esteem by one and all as he is known to live the most pious and righteous life and he also fearlessly spoke the truth, besides being a very strict vegetarian.

All the villagers cry before him about how men in power have degenerated and how miserable the life has become for people at their levels. Kondama Raju is pained to listen to their sorrowful tales and he consults the Sivanadiyaar who lives at the outskirts of the village, during the time he takes food to him., the Sivanadiyaar consoles him quoting the verses of Bhagavad Gita and assuring him that Lord MahaVishnu Himself will incarnate even in this Kaliyuga to eradicate evil and that it will happen very shortly.

On listening to these prophetic words of the sage, Kondama Raju feels relieved and happy.

PARITRAANAAYA SADHUNAAM
VINAASHAAYA CHA DUSHKRITAAM
DHARMASANSTHAAPANAADHAAYA
SAMBHAVAMI YUGE YUGE

This verse of the Bhagavad Gita as always is recited melodiously with the picture in the background of our beloved Puttaparthi Sai in a blessing posture , before the start of the 9th episode.

Sri Kondamaraju, on hearing the prophetic words of the Sivanadiyaar that very soon the Lord is going to descend on the earth in human form, returns home immensely happy and relieved.

The ninth episode starts with Easwaramma( same Anjali Devi) concluding her daily pooja and calling her children, eldest son Sehsma Raju, daughters, Venkamma and Parvathamma to receive the prasad. A neighbour invites her to attend along with her other family members, the Sathya Narayana Puja in her house being performed that evening. She goes along with her children to attend the pooja.

The pooja is performed by a couple of learned pundits, who extol the importance of the pooja, how in this Kaliyuga, Lord Sathya Narayana grants all boons to people, removes all hindrances and make people who worship Him happy and prosperous. At the end of the pooja, the house lady first offers the prasadam to Easwaramma who wants to leave for home, and requests her to leave the children there for having food. Easwaramma then alone goes home. Her husband Venkama Raju (the same actor who appeared as Shirdi Sais father, Gangabavadhya ) enquires whether the Sathya Narayana Pooja went off well etc. and also asks her about the whereabouts of the children. Easwaramma says she has left the children in the neighbours house to take food. Thus ends a happy and divine experience of Easwaramma , who, even otherwise is regularly worshipping Lord Narayana.

One morning after taking bath near the well at the backyard of the house, she stands relaxed for a moment after pouring water to the Tulasi (Basil) in the Maadam (a small squarely and ornamentally built flower pot that is used to grow Tulasi. At that very instant, a Divine light descends from the sky , glides and enters (Pravesa)through her stomach into her garbam (womb) making Easwaramma divinely ecstatic. She immediately rushes inside and falls prostrate at the feet of her father-in-law and with tears of divine ecstasy streaming on her streaks, narrates her experience. Kondamarajau, now immediately recollects the divine prophecy of the Sivanadiyaar and his specific saying that Kondamaraju should be prepared to receive the Divine arrival in his family. Now he is convinced that his daughter in law has conceived in her womb none other than the Lord Narayana Himself.

So the days progress as the crops in the fields grow to their full heights. Sathya Narayana Vratha Puja is regularly held in one house or other of the village on every Pournami (Full Moon Day) and Easwaramma regularly attends the pooja.

One night Venkama Raju, suddenly wakes up to listen to instrumental music in his house. He listens to melodious music on the Veena accompanied with the rythmic beatings on the Mridhangam and Tabla. He slowly gets up and peeps through his bedroom window. He sees in the hall of the house, the Veena, Tambura, Mridhangam, Tabla etc. being played by some unseen hands and the music is so much divine that his heart is filled with bliss and ecstasy.

First thing in the morning he goes to the house of a Sasthri (a learned scholar) who is held in great esteem by all the villagers. As he enters the house Sasthri and his students are engaged in a discussion on the glories and power of Gayathri Manthra. On seeing Venkama Raju, Saasthri welcomes him offering a seat. Venkama Raju narrates his experience of the previous night and asks him for clarification. Saasthri looks through his alamanac and asks Venkama Rajau: Is there any Garbhini (pregnant lady) in your house? And Venkamaraju says his wife is pregnant. Saasthri then says with conviction that very Bhagawan Himself is going to be born in their house. The playing of the instruments are all by the Devas signalling the Lords descent on earth. Venkama Raju says; Swami, thanks for telling this good news and leaves for home with extreme happiness.

PARITRAANAAYA SADHUNAAM
VINAASHAAYA CHA DUSHKRITAAM
DHARMASANSTHAAPANAADHAAYA
SAMBHAVAMI YUGE YUGE

This verse of the Bhagavad Gita as always is recited melodiously with the picture in the background of our beloved Puttaparthi Sai in a blessing posture , before the start of the 10th episode.

Recapping the previous episode.

Kondama Raju on learning that his daughter-in-law Easwaramma has conceived due to a Divine light entering her womb (Pravesa), gets convinced that it was none other than Lord Narayana , in conformity with the prophetic words of the Sivanadiyaar. Who he had met earlier at the village outskirts

One night Venkama Raju, suddenly wakes up to listen to melodious music on the veena accompanied with the rhythmic beatings on the Mridhangam and Tabla. He slowly gets up and peeps through his bedroom window. He sees in the hall of the house, the veena, Tambura, Mridhangam, Tabla etc. being played by some unseen hands and the music is so much divine that his heart is filled with bliss and ecstasy. He goes to the house of a learned Saasthri who says with conviction that very Bhagawan Himself is going to be born in their house. The playing of the instruments are all by the Devas signalling the Lords descent on earth and Venkama Raju leaves for home with extreme happiness.

Now about the current episode.

It is the evening of Kaarthigai month Somavaaram (Monday) . In the house of Kondamaraju, Rudram and Linga Abishekam are being performed. Subbama comes and gives prasadam to Easwaramma who is laid up in bed, expecting to deliver a child at any time. About this time, the Divine dance of Lord Siva and Paarvathi at Kailaash is shown. Then at last in the early morning hours (when there are still some moments of Monday left, the cry of a child is heard by all those present in the house. The women attending to the delivery come and say that it is a boy. Kondama Raju immediately consults an Almanac and says that the child is born in the star of Arudra (also called Thiruvaadirai and is the star of Lord Siva) on the fourth day of Krishna Paksha (waning period of moon) when there are still traces of Monday left and it is a very auspicious birth. The whole of Parthi village rejoices at the arrival of this Divine child. The child is very beautiful and charming with a big black mole on the left cheek

On the 11th day in the village a grand ceremony is performed for naming the child. People sing and dance, extolling the great virtues of Easwaramma, to whom, the Lord himself is born . Kondama Raju names the child Sathya Narayana as it is considered as the boon of Lord Sathya narayana who, Easwaramma was always worshipping. On that day the child is also laid on a cradle as per the custom.

One day as Easwaramma goes near the cradle in which the child Sathyanarayana is lying. She notices a brilliant illumination around the cradle. When she looks at the child she finds a halo around the childs head. At that time Subbamma arrives there to give her a beautiful clothe that she has specially stitched for child Sathya and the awe-inspired Easwaramma narrates to her about the halo around the child. Subbamma says the child is born on a Kaarthigai Somavaar (Monday) and is therefore Lord Siva incarnate.

As days progress, the child starts crawling. One day as Easwaramma was churning for butter (in the primitive style like the gopis of Krishnas yore) , the child comes crawling towards her. A cobra from somewhere comes and sits coiled up with his hood raised above the childs head. Easwaaramma on seeing the Cobra, shrieks and all people including the neighbours rush with sticks to kill the cobra. Kondama Raju prevents them from beating the cobra and tells them instead to call a snake-charmer, as the cobra is indicating that the child is a divine descent, just as Lord Maha Vishnu or Lord Siva is always seen in association with a snake. So the snake-charmer arrives and playing his mahudi (the instrument played by the snake-charmer through his mouth) very carefully takes away the cobra.

Thus concludes this weeks episode dealing with the Divine Descent of our Bhagawan.

PARITRAANAAYA SADHUNAAM
VINAASHAAYA CHA DUSHKRITAAM

SAMBHAVAMI YUGE YUGE

This verse of the Bhagavad Gita as always is recited melodiously with the picture in the background of our beloved Puttaparthi Sai in a blessing posture , before the start of the 11th episode.

A brief recap of the previous weeks happenings is shown- The birth of the Divine Avathar on the Karthigai months Somavaar (Monday) and the naming by Kondama Raju, the grandfather of the child,as Sathya Narayana since He is born as the result of the boon of Lord Sathya Narayana. How a cobra visits the child and pays its obeisance and how Kondama Raju prevents others from beating it, etc etc.

The current episode starts amidst the touring students who are visiting Puttaparthi. Their teacher (actress Sowcar Janaki) narrates to the students about the birth of Sathya Narayana and the scene shifts to the residence of Kondama Raju where Easwaramma is serving food to her children and also feeds baby Sathya keeping him in her lap.

The child grows into a handsome and lovely five year old boy. It now becomes the time for Vidyaarambham (beginning of schooling). A learned scholar is brought home by Sri Kondama Raju and Sathya is initiated into learning process. As the scholar starts reciting the Saraswathi (the Goddess of Learning) sloka, and various other Sanskrit slokas, young Sathya completes all of them stunning the scholar and Kondama Raju. He is then admitted into the village school nearby. Daily a group of his friends come to his house and they all go together to the school. Their class teacher is disappointed on seeing them with just slates and pencils. He tells each of the students to bring one variety of vegetable as otherwise they will not be allowed into the class. In the class Sathya excels every body. He is able to answer every question and thus soon commands respect from his colleagues and others.

While this goes on in the school, Kondama Raju in the house, tells Sathya about the various Puranic lores, stories of Krishna Avathar etc. Young Sathya makes Kondama Raju and Easwaramma spell-bound by revealing his knowledge about Krishna Avathaar. He tells them how Yasodha caught baby Krishna red handed when he ate a handful of earth and how Krishna lied that he did not eat any sand and how when asked to open his mouth he revealed the entire fourteen lokas inside his mouth etc. etc. He also explains to them about the purpose of Krishna Avathaar hitherto not known to them clearly!.

One day in the school Sathya leads a strike. He along with the other students holding each a vegetable in hand stands outside the class without entering it. The headmaster who arrives there queries them. They all tell himm how their class teacher forces them to bring vegetables for him. About that time the class teacher also arrives therE and is reprimanded by the headmaster. The class teacher then takes the students inside his class and tells them he will not ask for any vegetables from them in future.

Little Sathya then explains to him about the noble relationship between Guru and Sishya (Teacher and Student) and how that noble relationship should not be spoiled by mean desires. The teacher is awed at the wisdom of Sathya and starts respecting him.

In the house, one night, as Kondama Raju looks at the sleeping Sathya, he suddenly visualizes as Lord Krishna as a child. (Kondama Raju always saw him as baby Krishna even when Sathya was a child) He is overwhelmed and with ecstatic tears sits beside the sleeping Sathya. Sathya wakes up as if he is not aware of anything and goes back to sleep after seeing the grand father seated beside him.

Thus ends this weeks episode.

PARITRAANAAYA SADHUNAAM
VINAASHAAYA CHA DUSHKRITAAM
DHARMASANSTHAAPANAADHAAYA
SAMBHAVAMI YUGE YUGE

This verse of the Bhagavad Gita as always is recited melodiously with the picture in the background of our beloved Puttaparthi Sai in a blessing posture , before the start of the 12th episode

As usual a brief recap of the previous episode is shown. About how the boy Sathya reforms the erring school teacher, by teaching the teacher about the inherent divinity in the relation of Guru-sishya. How he starts adoring and respecting boy Sathya thereafter etc. etc.

The current episode starts with Vengama Raju (Sathyas father) meeting this teacher and enquiring about Sathyas study. He praises Sathya with all sincerity and advises Vengama Raju that it is time that Sathya joined the higher school at Bukkapattanam a little far away from Puttaparthi.

A meeting follows in the house of Vengama (/Kondama) Raju . Vengama Raju tells everyone that now Sathya should go and study in the higher school at Bukkapattanam as he has completed his primary level of studies. Mother Easwaramam is disturbed in sending her son to a far off school for further studies. Ultimately she realises the need for Sathya joining the school at Bukkapattanam.

So Sathya is admitted into the Bukkapattanam school. Easwaramma packs his lunch and the whole family gives a send off to Sathya. He along with his other friends starts going to the school on foot.

One day as he goes on foot to the school along with his other mates, he starts leading his group with the bhajan on Panduranga. He sings:

Jaya Jaya Vithala
Panduranga Vithala,
Pandarinatha Vithala

Some mischievous students awaiting them on the way near the river obstructs their path. As Sathya and his friends stop, those mischievous students dig out mud from the river and then throw it on Sathya. Sathya smilingly receives the assaults. He tells those people that if by doing these acts those students get any happiness then he will only be too happy to stand there and receive whatever they throw at him. The students then continuously splash the river water at Sathya. But he stands there unmoved and unperturbed.

Now the students suddenly stop their act and one of them approaches Sathya and asks him if he is not angry with them. Sathya says he is not angry with any of them, If they are happy he is also happy. On hearing him speaking like this, they all feel very sorry for their behaviour and seeks his pardons. They also then join him.

Outside the school, there is a Ganesa Idol under a banyan tree. Sathya takes out mysteriously several fruits from his bag and keeps in front of the idol as offerings. His friends ask him wherefrom he gets those fruits. Sathya says that a certain invisible force acts according to his wishes. The friends want to kow whether Sathya will give fruits etc. only to Ganesa or he will give to his friends also. Sathya says he will give his friends also.

Then Sathya circles his palm downwards and in an instant palm-full quantity of vibuthi appears from nowhere and his friends are stunned. Then every one rushes forward to receive the vibuthi from his hands. As he gives the vibuthi to his friends, his teacher Mehboob also comes before him and reverentially receives the vibuthi and with great devotion eats the vibuthi.

The scene then shifts to the class where a teacher is being mocked at by students, because of his funny behaviour. He starts telling a story about a miser hypocrite. At the end of the story he poses a riddle to the entire class. He keeps on asking the entire class to answer the riddle and no one comes forward to answer. At last Sathya comes forward and says that he will be able to answer the riddle. At this point the episode ends.

So let us await the next weeks divine TV moments.
