Bags

I realise I love making bags. They're fun, practical and make a great fashion accessory. I am always in the middle of making several bags and only once was it for myself :)

I designed and made this bag/case on request for my friend Roxanne. She just wanted something large enough to hold her toothbrush etc. I was in a butterfly mood at the time and added one to the front to dress it up.

I made this bag as a going-away gift for a co-worker. The front starts out with the Sunflower Square by Kerrie Anderson (it's on the Crochet Partners site) and then I just added some more to make it bigger. I sort of made up the pattern for the back as I went along. The bag is lined in chocolate brown. I loved the black and brown together. If you can't see the colours clearly, you may want to brighten your monitor a little.

My younger sister Laylaa requested a bag in this colour. It was the first thing I made when I caught the urge to start crocheting last year, after a long dormant spell. I used nylon and 1.25mm hook. It's lined and has a zipper. (Thus far, my mother sews the lining for me and I attach them. It's time I learned to sew:)

My mother requested a bag that she could take to school with her to hold some papers etc, not too large and in stripes of colour. I showed her many patterns and she chose one by Cylinda Matthews (It's a free pattern available at Crochet Memories). Of course, I varied it a little - made it taller and changed the handle.

Shoulder Pouch Shoulder Pouch
This was a birthday gift for Tamara, one of my oldest friends. I used a pattern from Groovy Crochet and all I left out were the decorative "curls". The day I gave it to her, she was wearing blue, so it looked really nice :)it's fully lined, and I was very happy with the way the pattern turned out.

Macrame Pouch Macrame Pouch
I found a skein of macrame cord lying around, and since I had just received my first large hooks, I thought, why not? I used a pattern by Daphne Mah called the Donnell pullstring bag . Unfortunately, it was only the one skein so I had to improvise the drawstring and embellishments out of yarn and wooden beads. It's lined in a light gold satin material which looks very pretty through the holes in the pattern. This also belongs to Roxanne.
