>> INVESTING IN SOUTH AFRICA
> Incentives for investors
There are almost no restrictions on the form or extent of foreign investment
in South Africa, and the range of incentives available include tax incentives
as well as those targeting small and medium enterprises, strategic industrial
projects and exporters.
SIP incentives on stream
SIP is an incentive programme designed to encourage investments into South
African operations from both local and foreign investors. Its primary aim
is to significantly contribute to the growth, development and competitiveness
of specific industry sectors by providing industrial investment allowances,
in the form of tax relief, to qualifying industrial projects.
Assistance for exporters
The Department of Trade and Industry offers four marketing assistance schemes
that are operated under the Export Marketing and Investment Assistance Scheme.
Number of tax incentives
There are a number of income tax incentives available, including double taxation
agreements with a number of countries.
