THE TEMPLARS HORNS OF HATTIN GMM RECORDS
The group many call the best oi! band in America drop another bomb via GMM records. Most of the Templars 15+ releases are recorded on an 8 track (aka the garage they call acre studio), but I don't think this one was. It sounds to crisp to be 8 track. Not crisp in the over produced kind of way, but crisp in the "this sounds really good" way. They stick to their simple song stucture, though, and hidden in the simplicity, the Templars write really, really, good songs. Horns of Hattin is no exception. At first listen, it might strike you as the best thing they've ever done. Isn't that always how it is with a new Templars record though? The initial listen doesn't win you over, but with each subsequent listen you hear another song you hadn't yet realized was rad. After about 20 listens, the whole thing is stuck in your head. Every damn last note. The real standouts are the last 5 songs: Enemies, Breakdown, Lies, Demagogue, and Ockham's Razor ( Ockham's Razor, by the way, is a logic tool used by scientists to weed out flawed theorys. What other oi! band sings about that stuff? Nobody! If you like the Templars, you'll be all over this record. If you like the Templars but didn't like Omne Datum Opus because it sounded "too produced", this record is produced enouph to sound good but not so produced that it loses that old school Templars feel. Trust me...you'll like it! -Jimmy Calanchini
The Starvations play rock n' roll like I havn't heard in years. In fact, I'm not sure if I've ever heard rock n' roll like this before. It's melancholy, 50's style funeral parlor rock with lots of reverb and lots of twang. Tts on the depressing sideof things, but it's not wussy by any means. It's the sound of the blood running through the veins of a man who just walked in on his woman in bed with another man: equal parts rage and depression. The lyrics aren't what you'd call cheerful, with songs like "Curse of the loner", "Church of the double cross", and "You ruined X-mas".Furthermore, each song comes with a sentence or two of explanation. Check this one from"Whiskey Summer, Gin fall":"Q:What's the remedy for feelings of impending doom that seem to come from nowhere and won't stop no matter what? A: alcohol. But don't get me wrong, this isn't depressing music a la Joy Division or gothic rock.Imagine listening to "house of the rising sun" by The Animals and "Ball and chain"by Social Distortion.over and over and over again. Don't take this record lightly. It's infectious, and it might take over your life. Maybe not after the first listen, but give it a few chances and you won't be able to go anywhere without having it in yor walkman. That's the power of The Starvations. -Jimmy Calanchini

PANIC BRIDGE DYING FOR IT
So this is the highly anticipated Panic. Panic features Gibby, singer of the trouble, on vocals. In case you've been dead the last 5 years, The Trouble were one of the raddest bands of the 90's: the kind that came of nowhere, made incredible music for a few short years, then broke up before everybody realized how awesome they were. Anyways, this album comes in hitting hard and deos not let up. I would say its classic American hardcore at it best. Bridge Nine is fast becoming the best hardcore label out there....BUY THIS! -Mel Torment
I love all these comps that come out: Punch drunk, give em the boot, skins n' pins, pure punk...lots of music for not much cash.
PUNCH DRUNK III PEACHES
This time around is about as good as any.... good songs from Cocksparrer, Niblck Henbane, Terminus City, US Bombs, Reducers, Forgotten and much more. Pick this one upnext time you have an extra 5 bucks, so Mark Rainey can afford to feed his rather large family. -Teddy Pentagram
HUDSON FALCONS / GC5 67,104 MILES LATER COSA NOSTRA RECORDS
I think by now most people out there who is into street punk or any punk scene has heard of the Hudson Falcons. When they say 67 Thousand miles you can bet your ass they mean it. GC5 are no slouches in the touring department either. I have witnessed both bands live on more than one occasion and can personally vouch for the fact that they are putting in some rock n' roll work and that they both kick ass live. On this album they solidify thier bond as brothers of the road with a split album from two of the hardest working bands in punk. What can I say....I enjoyed the album a whole lot! The Hudson Falcons on this one are very soulful and reflective. The song "who's talking shit" ( well maybe not all just soul and reflection!) even has a censored version(annoying after awhile, but funny idea). The Gc5 songs were equally rocking. Gc5 also has a singles collection out now, and word on the street is that they have a new full length coming out soon. Anyway, I don't know where you can order this, but I doubt that matters much, they'll be in your town soon! -Mel Torment

There used to be this band called the Statutories. Most members of that band eventually became the whiskey rebels. The old singer for that band however, is one of those kids doing his own thing. One time he vowed not to shower in celebration of "Rocktober". He succeeded. The stories are as countless as they are legendary. This album reminds me of one of his insane ideas come to life with alot of money put behind it. Andrew WK is a motherfucking HESHER, striaght up. Imagine 80's rock, Def Leppard, the john madden and fox sports football theme , mixed with like house music but played live. Lots of vague "inspiring" jams and ballads all balls to the wall, overproduced and way over the top. The songs on this album are almost too catchy, it's sick. It's as if they were in a lab carefully crafting each song on this album from every song done before it in the history of music. That or they took a page from the KLF "how to make a hit single" book. But I guess it deosn't matter where it came from as long as you party hard, kick ass and bang chicks. Either way this album is the new soundtrack for keggers everywhere. The jokes on you. -Mr. Son of Bitch

PRESSURE POINT TO BE CONTINUED... GMM RECORDS
PRESSURE POINT have long been local and national favorites the OI! scene, and this latest album, thier fourth, won't leave you dissaPOINTed.(HA HA) Coming a little harder this time around, PP sounds like they have been listening to alot of old school hardcore lately. The mix of Hardcore plus Streetpunk equals one mathmaticly sweet album, thier best to date. My favorites on here are C street pass, a tale of love grown cold and the struggle life puts us through, links in the chain, a folk cover, and a couple other rad ones like Drinking with the damned ( about a friend who has passed away) and To be continued (Asong about carrying on when people are trying to drag you down). Produced by Mark Noah of Anti Heros fame, this album has surpassed Pressures Point albums of the past musically, with speedier and more complex songs, and deeper, more mature lyrics. This will go down as one great Oi! album as this band looks to to the future(but deos not forget the past) To be continued.....indeed. -Bill Braskii
This album has a kick ass song on it called "role model". That song kicks ass. Everytime I hear it I am rocking out and singing along because it is so catchy. Perfect. At the end there is another song called "Like a prayer ".Apparently it was originally done by Madonna. That song also kicks alot of ass. -Mel Torment

| The Hanover saints are a fairly new streetpunk band from Sacramento who have gotten a lot of attn. due to their religious beliefs.Seeing them live is always a treat they are full of energy, play music express what they believe and not sound preachy. With the recording I wasn't exactly sure what to expect.I was in for a pleasant surprise. This debut record is a rare find in an overcrowded and often generic genre of music. Upon first listening I was stuck with a feeling of less is more the band delivers straight forward street punk without over production or self indulgent guitar solos and bass lines. Vocals are really a stand out here Brian succeeds in sounding angry but also upbeat at the same time..The lyrics are spiritually thought provoking without going over the top.....My only major complaints about this record are It coulda been recorded at a better studio and There seems to be an abundance of wooers and chants other than that ya cant complain Reminds me a lot of early 7seconds meets the Working stiffs 2 favs of mine..Im only hopeing next record they might consider doing a Cradle of Filth cover or possibly something with a guest spot by brotha lynch hung.......
