| Date: Frirday 2/10/06 Time: 7:00 pm Place: Spyder Speedway Attendees: Danny, Jim, Paul, Geno, Todd, Curt, Kyle I'd say we gave Paul's last race a good send-off. Todd, Curt & Kyle were on hand to join Paul, Danny, Geno and me for a total of seven racers. Todd had his hands full trying to get some cars dialed in with so little time. Kyle joined team RCR with a G3 sporting a Gulf paint scheme. Afterwards, I discovered that Todd ran the slowest of three cars he had to choose from and with a pretty high CG. Curt got to try out some of the equipment he purchased from Billy. Geno was running with some Delrin body posts that didn't look so good upon closer examination after the race but did well in the driving department. Danny's latest body looked fabulous! Danny's driving matched the car as his 4th place finish attests. Paul's car was the fastest car on the track but he had trouble in his favorite lane (white) and threw a shoe. Despite the pit time to repair the car, Paul was able to get back on the track and put on a driving exhibition and still ended up with 23 laps! I successfully repeated my strategy from last race and did well with just staying in the slot while exploiting the three straights rhythm and a quick but careful pace through the technical. When the smoke cleared, I was in first followed by Paul and Kyle. I should add that I was greatly aided by a 21T Slottech crown--thank you, Paul! Good recommendation! Unfortunately, we did not have a super stock race since Todd, Curt and Kyle needed to leave. I had a very special car ready with an 8T/24T combo that was really fast with plenty of stick. Unless Paul's track relocates in the area, I may never know how it would have stacked up against the competition. Kyle, Todd and I were running Third Eye controllers. Everyone had a chance to try them out and I heard plenty of positive comments. In my opinion, these are the hot ticket for Tomy track where a wide linear throttle selection and precise control can make all the difference. I definitely need to add one of these controllers to my arsenal! Jim Tim, you were missed, it was a nice (but short) event... Jim had 99 laps, I had 96... all others were really close together at 83-85 laps each. Nice run for folks who haven't run on the SS in a few years :-) I comfort myself knowing I lost a handful of laps on white with a shoe pop out and on blue lane with a body pop out. I think my track was telling me something... Paul |
