| Date: Frirday 11/12/04 Time: 7:30 pm Place: RC Speedway Attendees: Jim, Tim, Todd, Chris, George, Paul, Curt, Mike Race number 3 of the 2004-05 Season Series is now in the books. Once again, the big winner was SacHO! So far, our season series is a huge success--plenty of fun and friendly competition. With two members missing, we still had eight racers last night including a very familiar face, Curt Van Zandt. Let's hope that Curt was bitten with a generous dose of the HO racing bug and will once again become a regular. Congratulations, everyone on a great race! I'll will be sending a report on the Season Series standings to you all later this week, including the laps totals and standings for last night's race. Meanwhile, I thought I would share some details from my race log about the 1st place cars for club stock and super stock along with some product reflections. CLUB STOCK Flexible chassis, short wheel base, hot stock armature & silver electrical driver front .334, passenger front .327, .428 rears (light blue "B" compound silicone slip-ons) Tyco 7T pinion / BSRT 22T crown (old part) Pro guide pin Flanged armature bushing (BSRT part # 084 @ $3.00) body painted from clear .010 Peugeot Essentially, this is the car that Mark Owyang drove to 1st place at the season opener. I decided to use this when a rebuild went bad on my best car and didn't even look at the setup until this morning when I decided to document it. SUPER STOCK Medium chassis, short wheel base, advanced timing hot stock armature (BSRT part # 146 @ $15.00), silver electrical flanged armature bushing .335/.434 fronts were Wizzard narrows (black) and back were Wizzard black LAWG old 7T SG+ pinion (gray) / 22T BSRT crown Extended pro guide pin body painted from clear .010 Peugeot The big news hear is that the soft Wizzard black tires stick to the track. I started out with a .434 until I had gear trouble and then swapped to a different rear axle assembly equipped with Wizzard black LAWG .430's. The .430's were noticeably slower but still got the job done. I was worried about how hot my car got in practice with the .430's and decided to go with the .434's that I was saving for the race at Paul's place. The .434's felt much better. I suspect that I can go taller on the rear, gain more speed and still stay stuck to the track. Paul told me that he was running .446 orange tires. His car was silky smooth and very quiet. Nothing conclusive to share about super stock tires, but I will continue experimenting with Wizzards for the present. A word to the wise...better get yourself some .434 soft black Wizzard tires if you want to have a chance against Paul at the next Spyder Speedway race. Jim Sweeps again! |
