Location: Somewhere on the rear axle.
Function: To hold the rear axle in place so there is constant meshing of crown and pinion gears.
Brands: Pro Tech, BSRT.
Tips: There are two kinds of rear spacers. There are spacers which are small round plastic. These may be used between the crown gear and the chasis. And the second type of spacer is a "gear boss". These go in the middle of the rear axle next to the crown gear. They hold the pinion gear in contact with the crown. All stock cars come with a gear boss. However, aftermarket spacers may be prefered for strength, and less weight. |
