Front End Tips
CA Slot Car Message Board
Location: The "Front End" refers to the front axle set up.

Function: Provide smooth ride, traction in the corners, and the right height for the front end of the car.

Brands: Popular brands are BSRT, Wizzard and others.

Tips: An "O" ring set up used to be required for a Club stock car. However, in 2002 the rules have change so that both Club stock and Super stock allow an independed front end. For competitive racing, one of these should be used. They come in aluminum or delrin (plastic). Aluminum is recommended for longevity and smoothness. Delrin is good for lighter weight (club stock).

The front tires play a big part in how a car handles. If the tires are to tall, the car will tend to pop out of the slot as it enters a corner. If it is too low, the car may drag and slow down. Front tires are usually rubber, and advanced racers grind down their tires to the desired heights. Front end tires may be a hard material or soft. The hard tends to be better for routed tracks and faster classes. The soft tends to be better suited for bumpy plastic tracks and slower classes.
