The duo is also likely to be doing radio reports together from the upcoming Sydney Gay Games. Also on Nathan�s itinerary is a return to the BB house to do a fundraiser for the Kids Help Line and a turn as a celebrity driver in Rally Australia (�Prepare for me to crash. I reckon I will plough it straight into a tree�). 25 June 2002 What I Learned from the House Some housemates were in it for the money. But for Nathan, the biggest reward of being in BB was just being accepted for himself. Nathan had just quit his graphic design job and was ready for a change, so he thought �What the hell?� He said, �All my friends were badgering me to get my audition tape in. When I finally did it, it was right on the deadline and was so crap. I couldn�t even bring myself to tell anyone I�d applied.� For Nathan, it wasn�t a case of doing it for the cash, or even the chance to get to know himself better. It was more to see if viewers could handle people who were so upfront, honest and out there. �I�ve always been an open book. I�ve always talked freely about personal stuff and never toned down for anyone. I was interested to see how that would be perceived by the public, I guess.� 8 June 2002 Behind Big Brother Christie and West Australian Nathan Morris were evicted from the show after producers ran with a secret-society storyline. The two were the supposed ringleaders, and would talk in codes and exclude fellow housemates Young, Marty, Jess and Mirabai, who slept in another room. Morris thought it was a beat-up: "The whole thing was hilarious; the whole room thing was taken way out of context." FAR from being bitter about his portrayal, Morris doesn't have a problem and understands it's reality television. 6 June 2002 Nathan Rocks the Nation Nathan is solidly booked every day for the next two months. In his first week out of the house, he�ll have done the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, back to Sydney, over to Kalgoorlie, down to Perth and back to the east coast - and he wouldn�t have it any other way. On leaving the BB House - "I really thought everyone would hate me. You just have no idea. I�m completely overwhelmed." "I had an elderly lady come up to me whose daughter had just lost her baby, but she still watched me every night to cheer herself up. That touched me so much. I can�t believe the happiness you can bring people just by being yourself." So many people who�ve met me say, �I feel like I know you� and I say �You do!� "I was at Coolangatta airport and the Virgin Blue staff pulled me on to the speaker phone to answer questions from the crowd of people in the gate lounge. Hilarious!" "I demanded to know who voted me out and yelled at them to put their hands up, thinking that would send them running. But when I got on the plane, they made me be their plaything all over again," Nathan cackled. "The cabin crew moved me up the front and I ended up selling drinks from the snack cart and taking questions from the passengers. They even went through my luggage and helped me pick the best shirt to wear on Rove that night!" The Rove experience sent Nathan into overdrive. "I was so nervous that night. I thought he was going to thrash me, as I heard he�d been tough with some of the others, but he was such a lovely guy. I met his girlfriend, Belinda, and she�s so sweet, and even met his parents. In fact, they�re from Perth, so I�ve invited them out for a drink when I get home. They were so cool." He gushed further when he spoke of meeting pop singer Mandy Moore and almost burst when he got to Grinspoon, the Aussie rock band. "We swapped numbers and they�ve invited me to come to any of their shows whenever I like - I can�t believe it! This whole media experience is better than winning the prize money, I reckon." "Bert is just the loveliest man, and he said me and Al were his favourites, which is so cool." 4 June 2002 Nathan Lets Loose What did you think of the fashion task? I loved the task, I thought it was fun. I was an idiot for giving Brodie the cool outfit, and making myself wear the embarrassing one. I've been doing your alternative exercise routine for over a month now with no noticeable progress. What might I be doing wrongly? When you reach for the chips, you're obviously going for the baked ones, not fried. And when you reach for the remote, don't have it far away from your body - have it resting on your lap. There was no tongue - I think. 2 June 2002 Nathan's Out of the Race Could Nathan�s bitching about Brodie be responsible for his walk down eviction road? Initially, they were the best of friends, with Nath taking Brodie under his wing. But a week later, the two were barely speaking. An off-hand remark from Gretel, that Nathan seemed to be in love with Brodie, offended Nathan greatly, and may have caused him to step back. Others speculated the sudden chill came about when Brodie looked like challenging Nathan�s supremacy. 2 June 2002 (Eviction Night) Gretel boomed in "It's time to go Nathan". None of the HMs could believe it. Mira's response is "your f%$*ng joking". Nath said "I knew it". Sahra holds his hand as he walks out. She's visibly shocked. - Eviction Tally: Nathan (39%), Alex? (15%), ??? (10%) 20 May 2002 Nathan To Go All the Way Nathan's been a good boy - he's kept his trousers on," his mum laughed. Born in Kalgoorlie, Nathan moved to a unit in Perth several years ago and has been sharing with a variety of people - something his parents believe was valuable training for the house. While Nathan is obviously their favourite housemate, there are one or two others who Mr and Mrs Morris believe should go - Turkan and Peter, whom they see as playing games. 22 April 2002 Nathan's Year 12 geography camp south of Perth in the winter of 1994, long before the fright-wig hair and slide-rule whiskers. "It was freezing," recalls schoolmate Lyndal Fyfe, 24. "Nathan, from God knows where, brought some 'fart gas.' He sprayed my bunk and my sleeping bag and pillow and this stuff was so vile I couldn't sleep in my sleeping bag ... so I slept freezing in this dorm in 2-degree weather." Oh, Big Brother! P. 24 Who Weekly 12 April 2002 (Day 5) Nathan has joined the ranks of those who are pierced after getting his ear pierced by Sahra - making that the third piercing in the BB House. 10 April 2002 (Day 3) Nathan has told the housemates he�s gay. But added - It�s all about personality, not sexuality. He told his parents the night before leaving for Big Brother and said he was so relieved they were so supportive. He said the hardest part about being gay had been telling his parents: �There is such a pressure for gay children because you always think your parents are going to be disappointed,� he said. �My parents were certainly not homophobic, but when my brother, who was engaged, died a few years ago in an accident, the onus was on me to provide the grandchildren�. Nathan said he definitely wants children, despite his sexual preference and thinks he�d be a great dad. 7 April 2002 (Last Day Before Going into the BB House) I was freaking out a bit, but mostly I just kicked back and chilled out, on my last day before entering the house. I also had a chat with some family and friends. - Nathan said he'd like to sleep with Josh Hartnett and Sarah-Michelle Geller. - Nathan hates "The Macarena". He used to walk off dancefloors in disgust if the DJ played it. - Nathan didn�t eat a single vegetable until he was 15 and that all he used to eat as a kid was tomato sauce on bread. Yum!
