Map of Coravant

Coravant is the wild southwest of Sacawisha. It is a thorn in the side of Chemarrond. Through Coravant, there lies a road connecting Chelmarrond with the Empire of Simlarin to the southwest.

Boforkgat

Boforkgat is partially situated within a Song Zone. This particular zone acts as a wild magic zone, making the city attractive to wild mages. The lack of law and order makes the city attractive to other types of people. While not overtly evil, Boforkgat is certainly chaotic. The duel, the assassin, and the stroke in the night: this is how justice is made in Boforkgat. The city is "ruled", such as it were, by a consortium of guilds and gangsters whose only law is the avoidance of major conflicts. Other than that, anything goes. Boforkgat is evenly split between humans, half-orcs, and a large group of "other."

Arasrin

Arasrin is the best seaport, and largest city, in Coravant. The things exported from here often don't bear mentioning. The city is ruled by a group of trading magnates who might best be described as "semi-piratical". Along with the Cavailin region of the Dry Towns, Arasrin has received much intense and unfavorable scrutiny from Ellart II of Chelmarrond. While the Prince might yet subdue the Cavailers, Arasrin will be a much tougher nut to crack.

Quibben

Quibben is the Kender colony, separated from Arasrin by a high wall—as high as the pirate lords of Arasrin can manage. The Kender are theorized to be a mutation of the halflings, but nobody knows how long they have lived at Quibben. They are the only known Kender in the world (much to the relief of the world). Of course, nobody really rules Quibben; the best that the lords of Arasrin can do is to minimize the damage. For reasons they reveal to no one, no Kender will permanently settle anywhere other than Quibben, though, of course, they are to be found wandering the length and breadth of Sacawisha and Simlarin (to find them in said wanderings, just follow the trail of destruction).

Lorrando

Lorrando is another sizable port, much nearer to Chelmarrond then is Arasrin. Lorrando is firmly ruled by the Unknown Lords, about whom much is speculated but nothing is really known (thus the moniker Unknown Lords). They bring the best government in Coravant to their subjects. There is the same mixture of races here as elsewhere in Coravant, but they all get along much better. The penalties when they do not tend to be severe. Lorrando boasts the largest presence of Chelmarronders in the region.

Woorstean

Woorstean is a center for adventurers second only to Barshali in the Wet Towns. From here, access into Animona is excellent, with the River Halavo providing a highway into the heart of the wild region. Thirty miles north of the town is the edge of the largest Song Zone known in Sacawisha. This Zone is the object of the eager attentions of the Wooliburn Study Group, a consortium of mages who maintain a stronghold at the edge of the Song Zone (about 50 miles north of Woorstean) in order to study its effects. This is one of the few zones where the magical effect varies from place to place. Woorstean, like Barshali, can provide adventurers with equipment and services they might need. Unlike Barshali, the prices are outrageous. Also unlike Barshali, adventurers might find themselves with more than they can handle even before they step outside the town.

Jokogan Mountains

The Jokogan Mountains are actually hills—the highest peak is only 1050 feet above sea level. The region is rich in mythic history for the Thearaddan people. Here was fought the epic campaign, 1700 years ago, that secured what is now Animona. In these misty hills, young gods walked the earth, experiencing the adventures that now compose much of the Thearaddan mythic cycle. The Jokogans are not well explored, despite the presence of nearby towns, because most Thearaddans believe that they are sacred mountains, to be reclaimed only when the Animona is resettled, Coravant is tamed, and the Empire of Relarion rises anew.

Kellendorn

Kellendorn is a large, dark forest, not far from the Jokogans. Here is found the only known population of high elves in Sacawisha. However, the elves do not thrive, as the forest is virtually under siege from humans, orcs, and other evil intelligent races, which surround the woods. For three hundred years, the elves have preserved Kellendorn, but they have little time for such pursuits as elven art and civilization; the result is a lessening of the cultural level of this isolated people. They are probably the world's finest woods warriors, though.

Neraifi Canduina

The Hills of the Ancients—Neraifi Canduina in the Thearaddan tongue—were the very last holdout of the Wesstua people, from whom the Thearaddans took Sacawisha long ago. The Canduine hills were not conquered until 1150 years ago, which was 150 years after the rest of Sacawisha had fallen to the invaders. The hills are said to contain unquiet spirits, not just of the Wesstua who defended them to the last, but of all Wesstua who fell to the invaders in the 700-year struggle. Though much of the area is nominally part of Chelmarrond, Prince Ellart's rule falls here very lightly indeed, as only a few brave settlers have come to these fertile but haunted lands.

The Shadowed Cities

The Shadowed Cities are so-called not for any supernatural reason, but rather because this collection of tiny, mostly-human realms falls under the long shadow of the neighboring Empire of Simlarin. A hundred years ago, when the Empire was more strongly glued together, many towns in this region were part of the Empire. However, as central authority weakened, the Shadowed Cities found their freedom once again. This was not always a blessing, however—in many cases, the Empire could simply not afford to defend the towns against the marauding bandits and monsters from north and east, and so released them unwillingly. Now, the Shadowed Cities fight for their freedom and prosperity in a hostile world.
