L'arbre de Noel 1969 . Columbia Director: Terence Young Cast William Holden (Laurent Segur) Virna Lisi, Bourvil, Brook Fuller Screenplay:Terence Young, Michel Bataille (also novel)
After such intene film as "The Wild bunch" Holden needed to unwind and he accepted the lead in this sappy tear-jerker about the relation between an orphaned boy and his wealthy father when the latter knows the boy has just a short time to live. Everybody in the cast overact or just seem not to care one way or the other.
Meet the Stewarts 1942 Columbia Director: Alfred A. Green Cast: William Holden (Michael Stewart) Frances Dee, .
Holden is perfect as the older, and not so wiser of two cowboys running from the law after robbing a bank in this sadly overlooked Western, rich in texture and smoothly directed.
The Moviemakers : 1971 Robins Nest Productions Director: Ronald Saland Cast: William Holden (himself)
Holden is a peaceful rancher, whose life is torn apart when his family is massacred and his ranch destroyed by a gang of marauding outlaws. He puts together a group of mean, lawless convicts to act as his posse as he tracks down the gang responsible for the death of his loved ones. The film reunites Holden and Borgnine but the magic is not there. Susan Hayward (in her last film) is the only good thing in this terrible Western filmed in Panavision who bombed miserably.
