William Shakespeare’s Life History: By Claudia William Shakespeare was an English poet and playwright who, by many, is considered to be on of the greatest writers of the English language. Although he was quite wealthy later on in his life, William was born, one of eight, into a rather poor family in England. He attended grammar school in Stratford-upon-Avon. In 1582, William married Anne Hathaway and had three children. The first of who was Susanna. Then Anne had twins, Judith and Hamnet. Unfortunately Hamnet dies at the age of 11. The next 10 or so years of William’s life completely disappear from all records but then reappear somewhere around 1592 in London at the famous Globe Theater, along the Thames River. From then on, Shakespeare wrote 38 plays and 154 sonnets as well as a variety of poems. Some of which include Hamlet, Julius Caesar, King Lear and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. About twenty-four years after establishing himself as an entrepreneur in England, William Shakespeare died on, supposedly, his birthday; April 23, 1616, which could be considered the true date of death or a myth. Either way, Shakespeare was buried in the Holy Trinity Church, in Stratford-upon-Avon, where he still lies today, more than 400 years old. Although he is dead, William Shakespeare’s most famous plays are still read world-wide for leisure and requirements for school. |
