The Sixth Extinction was the inaugural Chronicle for the Maiden Newton Masquerade Society in its LARP (Live-Action RolePlay) form. It was a werewolf game - i.e., the PC's were all werewolves - and was a learning experience for all, since the Society had up until then always been involved only with Vampire games.
Background
The Background to the Chronicle was relatively simple; the PC's were all members of the Caern (werewolf equivalent to the Sabbat Temple, or Elysium in the case of the Camarilla) of Maiden Newton. The Caern was situated in the forest outside the city, and was ruled over by its Alpha, Slays-the-Weak, and its Beta, Guides-the-Way.
The Chronicle's main plot centred around three central storylines. The first of these was the sinister relationship between the Alpha, Slays-the-Weak, and the unbelievably powerful and insane Tzimisce, Kraken. The second storyline involved Kraken's devious scheme to eradicate humanity itself (hence the title of this Chronicle), by using his elaborate Gnostic Exterminator, which was a half-technological, half supernatural machine, powered by Gnosis (the source of a werewolf's spiritual power), and armed with the potential of literally vapourising human beings. Finally, the third storyline was that of the defeat of the Camarilla of the city, and the subsequent take-over by the Sabbat. This was to pave the way for the Vampire Chronicles that followed. However, since this website is mostly dedicated to the Vampire games, I will leave the rest of the details of The Sixth Extinction out.
