Faade and Background: While the World plays host to some of the most vicious and malignant villains imaginable, to the Nephilim race, none are quite so horrific and dreaded as the recent emergence of the Soul Seekers. Soul Seekers are Nephilim who actively seek out other, weaker Nephilim to slay and Absorb, to take the powers of the fallen. For each Nephilim a Soul Seeker destroys and Absorbs, her own power and strengths increase, making the Soul Seekers deadly opponents.
Since attempting to Absorb a Human has absolutely no effect at all, the Soul Seekers only prey on other Nephilim, making this Faction no concern of the Humans at all, but the worst nightmare of their fellows birthed from the Initium Occasus.
The Soul Seekers are comprised of any Nephilim dark of mind enough to want to actively Absorb other Nephilim, and while many do so for their own ends and in their own way, most Soul Seekers rally under the banner of the Factions founder, the Marked One.
The history of The Marked One and the foundation of the Soul Seekers is rather dark and bloody, much like the practices of the monsters themselves, for The Marked One, briefly a
Zealot after his birthing some twenty years ago, swiftly came to believe that he was the Last Nephilim, for no more came after him (for no known reason) for a period of almost three weeks. Other Zealots, under the direction of Vodec, flocked to The Marked One (who then had a different name, lost now to time), and heralded him as the Last Nephilim, as prophesised by Baados almost a century before. However, when the Initium Occasus next birthed a Nephilim, following its unprecedented hiatus, and thus disproving The Marked Ones claim as the Last Nephilim, he furiously set upon the poor Newbirth, and slew it before it had even finished its maturation. Upon the death of the Newbirth, The Marked One Absorbed its Vita and abilities, and, consumed with the new power he felt, he turned on the Zealots still close by, and Absorbed them also.
Such a thing was unprecedented. Absorption was known of, but never before had anyone actively sought out a Nephilim to devour in such a horrendous way. Instantly the Zealots declared war on The Marked One, but his revelation was felt throughout the Nephilim race, and before long, many were flocking to the banner of this inspirational and revolutionary Nephilim, who had by now transformed his identity into that of The Marked One, and he welcomed them warmly to his philosophies.
However, there is secret and silent fear among many of the Soul Seekers, who cannot help but wonder if The Marked One, now of extreme power despite his young age, is only encouraging Soul Seekers to Absorb other Nephilim so that he in turn can Absorb his own followers, thereby gaining everything they themselves have gained. As for The Marked One, he has not actually been seen for almost a decade, although the consequences of his actions live on grimly in his legacy of the Soul Seekers.
The Human reaction to the Soul Seekers is varied. Since they pose no threat and make no particular interference with Human affairs, they are mostly welcomed into all of the Seven Kingdoms. The
latinus scholari, although they would never publicly admit it, secretly support everything the Soul Seekers do and stand for, since every fallen Nephilim is one less that they have to deal with. Still, many Humans, especially those who observe a Soul Seeker Absorbing another Nephilim, are dubious about the Faction, and wonder what they will do if they ever turned their full attention onto Humanity.

Reality: The Soul Seekers are a Nephilims worst nightmare, and with very good reason. Unfortunately there is no way to identify a Soul Seeker from any other Nephilim until it is too late, and even then often the victim will have no idea of her fate. Only the blackest of souls will choose to become a Soul Seeker, for Absorption is the truly the most horrific crime known to Nephilim.
Such is the paranoia of the intentions of The Marked One among some Soul Seekers that an exceptionally secret sub-faction has been set up, to which only six or seven Nephilim belong. No other Soul Seekers, or anyone else for that matter, know of this conspiracy, which is just as well, for the splinter groups main objective is to find The Marked One who has conveniently not been seen for many years and Absorb him before he gets a chance to Absorb them or any of the other Soul Seekers. Unfortunately these conspirators do not seem to think that whoever Absorbs The Marked One will then likely fall victim to the other paranoid conspirators, and so on. The future of the Soul Seekers does indeed look grim, but none have the understanding or ability to do anything about it when the inevitable clash occurs.
In the meantime, the Soul Seekers continue preying viciously on the race of Nephilim, who do all they can to resist such monsters, but inevitably are mostly unable to resist their immense power.

Character Creation Guidelines: Soul Seekers are not recommended as Player Characters, as they will be extremely detrimental to the game. That said, the following guidelines would apply. No Soul Seeker may hold Status, and although Absorbing a group of Zealots might result in the characters reputation among the Humans increasing greatly, very few will ever accumulate Renown besides that which they pertains only to the Soul Seekers Faction itself. Obviously Physical Attributes are important, but Soul Seekers employ a whole range of tactics and Aptitudes to defeat their victims.
