Caesar Puns, Metaphors, Imagery, and Syntax:

#1
Puns:
A trade, sir, that, I hope, I may use with a safe
conscience; which is, indeed, sir, a mender of bad soles.
Truly, sir, all that I live by is with the awl: I
meddle with no tradesman's matters, nor women's
matters, but with awl.

Metaphors:
This rudeness is a sauce to his good wit.
Cassius is a wretched creature.

Similies:
For let the gods so speed me as I love.
I did hear him groan:
Ay, and that tongue of his that bade the Romans
Mark him and write his speeches in their books,
Alas, it cried 'Give me some drink, Titinius,'
As a sick girl

Imagery:
The torrent roar'd, and we did buffet it
With lusty sinews, throwing it aside
And stemming it with hearts of controversy;
His coward lips did from their colour fly
The angry spot doth glow on Caesar's brow,
And all the rest look like a chidden train.

Iambic Pentameter:

    U              U            U              U           U
Why should/ that name/ be sound/ed more/ than yours?
   U         U           U             U            U
That of/ yourself/ which you/ yet know/ not of.

Who speaks in poetry? Who speaks in prose? Who speaks in blank verse? why?
Poetry is spoken by commoners all the way up to royalty.
                        Spoken by                 Why
Prose was spoken by commoners and plebians because they were not supposed to be as advanced as nobility.
Blank verse is spoken by the main character because it is the normal speech for the setting.
Rhyme is spoken by royalty and nobility because it was a fanciful way of speaking.

#3
Cassius:
A
political person because he views events without emotional or inner feelings.
Cassius is very
clever because he can get people to think and act the way he wants them to by telling them certain ideas.
He is an
observer of the world around.
He is always
looking out and views people and things for what they are. He says things with a lot of irony in the concepts.

Caesar:
He is an
honored king by the commoners.
Thought of as
ordinary by Cassius and others.
Caesar is a
conquerer of many lands.
He has a background with a strong
army.
Before he was king he
started off basically middle class.

Brutus:
He is a
thinker and dwells on emotional feelings.
Brutus thinks inwardly and poders
inner thoughts.
He
reluctantly follows Cassius's ideas about Caesar.
A close
friend of Caesar.
Brutushas a strong
admiration for his nation.
