About the Gibsons
Arvin S. Gibons
&
Carol Gibson
Carol and Arvin Gibson met at the University of California in Berkeley and were married in 1950.  They raised their four children in California, and they now have twelve grandchildren.
Carol has been active in school, political and civic activities.  Arvin graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from the University of California.  He took post-grraduate courses from the International School of Nuclear Science and Engineering, UCLA, General Electric, and the Edison Electric Institute.  For many years he worked and performed research in the field of nuclear engineering.
Arvin came to Utah to join Utah Power and Light Company where he became an Executive Vice President.  He was responsible for engineering power plant and major transmission systems, construction, operations, planning and budgeting, and supervising 1600 employees.
When Arvin retired from Utah Power he became interested in near-death experiences due to an earlier experience of his father.  Carol and Arvin began research in the field in 1990.  They are both active in a local chapter of the International Association for Near Death Studies (IANDS of Utah).
Both Carol and Arvin have held numerous teaching and service positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
ECHOES From ETERNITY

Echoes from Eternity expands the important and inspiring research which started with the best-selling book Glimpses of Eternity:  In this book, twenty-nine fascinating new first-hand accounts of persons who died, entered the Spirit World, and returned to life are reported.  Scientist call such events near-death experiences (NDEs).
The author's continuing research confirms previous findings and also reveals new and unexpected insights.  Several of those who experienced NDEs tell of having seen themselves in a pre-mortal environment making choices about their future life on earth.  Some children's experiences are recorded, and their innocence and candor sheds additional light on the subject of death and the hereafter.  Some of the interviewed individuals went through extensive NDEs, and their vivid recollections are described in detail.
The first part of the book documents recorded interviews of the persons who traveled beyond the veil of this life and returned.  Their accounts are recorded in full, without editorial comment.  In the second part of the book, those experiences are analyzed by the author, based on his extensive previous research in this area and in the context of LDS scriptures and teachings.
These two approaches combine to make a powerful witness that life after death is not to be feared.  One lady, whose account is typical of many of the responses, said, "I don't think people should be afraid of dying.  I've lost all fear of death since my experience."
This book makes a major contribution to the field of near-death research, and it answers many questions about this life and the life to come.  Questions about pre-mortal choices, the role of pain in mortal experiences, the effect improper choices made in this life have on one's post-mortal experience, the healing power of the Savior's love, and the continuation of family life in the hereafter are thoughtfully examined.  What emerges with clarity is a strong message of love, hope, and eternal growth.
