Glru checks Akavi's sheet to see if he *HAS* selected 'legalese' as a language.

Healer_Lina: "I think Reisha will be coming with us."

Akavi: ((Infernal, so it's close))

Akavi nods. "Very well. Do you think it's safe to leave falrim here alone?"

Glru: "Safe for us? yes. Safe for Falrim? As safe as anyone getting sacrificed."

Akavi grins. "Valid."

Glru: "you can only get so dead before your stop getting more dead."

Healer_Lina: "If he's made his decision, it should be respected."

Akavi rolls up the affidavit and tucks it into her belt.

Akavi: "I'm glad to see you're so sensible about this."

DM_Hallu: Sayenya chooses that moment to sweep elegantly down the hall towards you. She tilts her head in mild confusion. "Where's Zachiixcu? I thought I sent him down with you."

Akavi inclines his head respectfully.

DM_Hallu: (Isn't Akavi still a her?)

Glru: "he goes to look for you and for hammer after accidentally shooting healer."

Akavi: ((Damn it, I keep getting the pronouns confused...))

DM_Hallu: "Ah," says Sayenya, neglecting to show any interest in whether the healer is okay. "And are you satisfied that the dwarves are here willingly?"

Glru: ((no one ever asks about the hammer...)

Akavi: "One is, yes. Regrettably, there is a hitch with Reisha."

Akavi: "It seems as if, through no fault of her own, she was coerced by Falrim to stay."

DM_Hallu: "Oh?" says Sayenya. "That's most unfortunate. Has she changed her mind about the sacrifice?"

Akavi: "Rather, has felt comfortable expressing her original opinion, yes."

DM_Hallu: Sayenya nods slowly. "Well, that's understandable. She did initially agree to it, though, so there are a couple of procedural things that have to be done to reverse the decision. If you'll follow me this way, please?"

Glru: "husband, he is bully, he says "you do what I say" she agrees because he is bully. she decides she would rather bully die alone. is better, this way, firefly count is fixed.

Akavi looks at the rest of the group, half surprised that it was this easy, and half suspicious.

Glru: "Before, had to many sacrifices, 1 fly, 2 dwarfs. this fixes.

Akavi: "By all means, lead on, priestess."

Healer_Lina guides Reisha after Sayenya.

Akavi follows.

Tobias follows the others.

Anthony_Stieber follows, albeit nervously.

Glru saunters along near the read, checking over his shoulder periodically.

Glru: ((spot 21))

DM_Hallu: Sayenya leads you down several winding flights of stairs and through a large stone doorway into a room with reasonably comfortable benches and couches on which to wait. There are three other doors going out of the room, but all are shut. You do not see anyone following you.

Glru: ((glru has the eyes of an eagle.. in one of his pockets. they're in a jar with some formaldehyde))

DM_Hallu: "Now, if you'll wait here for a moment," she says, "I'll get the notary and required witnesses."

Glru: ((I'm assuming the female is with us?))

DM_Hallu: (Yes, Reisha is with you.)

Akavi waits for her to leave.

DM_Hallu: Sayenya exits the room. Anthony and Lina, you see something odd in her bearing and face. You suspect she may be fetching something a little more sinister than a notary.

Glru mentions casually in elvish "Is anyone else here concerned that this greatly resembles a trap?" he stands in the doorway, wrench upright in the event of a dropping door (to prop it))

Akavi: ((May I express my suspicion, since I already mentioned it?))

DM_Hallu: (how can you prop a door with a wrench? wouldn't the pointy end of the wrench make it fall over?)

DM_Hallu: (Sure.)

Akavi looks around the room. "I would... be prepared, friends. Although the Seeker Volant specifically stressed nonviolence."

Tobias: ((was that in Common?))

Anthony_Stieber nods.

Akavi: ((Yes.))

Akavi: ((Albiet quiet))

Glru: ((the pointy end would likely stab into the floor, but would be kickable to get it out.))

Akavi: "My recommendation would be to not make the first aggressive move."

Akavi: "Tobias, Anthony, can you fight unarmed?"

DM_Hallu: Glru, make a Reflex save.

Healer_Lina is casting Protection From Evil on Reisha, and Sanctuary on herself.

Glru reverts to common. "But make second through tenth violent move."

Akavi: ((That's probably a good sign))

Akavi: ((Remember I'm Evil, Lina, if that comes up))

Anthony_Stieber shrugs. "I'm not great at it, but I could always try." He then adds, "If things get sour, let me make the first move though. I might be able to solve it with minimal violence."

Glru: (27 aught to do it i should think))

Akavi nods at Anthony. "I hove some diplomacy or bluffing might work as well."

Anthony_Stieber nods back. "I have another little trick up my sleeve though."

Glru: ((luvs my awesome kitty nimbility))

Akavi: "I'm eager to see it" Akavi says with a smile.

Healer_Lina: "By all means, Stieber."

DM_Hallu: It does. You avoid being stabbed by the falling portcullis. Unfortunately, the thick doorway was a distracter; the portcullis goes out diagonally, missing your wrench entirely. A second later, a diagonal stone wall rolls down overtop of it.

Anthony_Stieber: "So you should be."

DM_Hallu: Reisha startles and begins cursing fluently in Dwarvish.

Glru huffs indignantly "Glru should have checked mechanism."

Akavi surveys the room. "Glru, was that a manual or an automatic trigger?"

DM_Hallu: (hey, nobody made any Search checks *shrugs*)

Glru: "Glru touched nothing.�

Akavi nods. "So we may be observed."

Akavi: "It does imply, though, that there is a possibility we could limit entry and exit to this room."

Akavi: "Which could be advantageous."

DM_Hallu: "I'm sorry," says Reisha quietly, in Dwarvish, when she runs out of cuss words.

Glru listens to Reisha's cursing, mentally grading her, filing away any new terms he hears. he pokes at the door with the pointy end of his wrench to see if it's openable((search 21))

Akavi looks at her.

DM_Hallu: You can't see anything that would make it openable.

DM_Hallu: (Glru, you learn a couple of interesting new words.)

DM_Hallu: (You're not sure what they mean, though.)

Healer_Lina: "Friends, shall I spread my calm?"

Anthony_Stieber: "I have quite a bad feeling about this."

Glru: smacks it experimentally to see if it's brittle at all.

DM_Hallu: Nope.

Glru: ((well that's a waste of a natural twenty))

Akavi: "I would appreciate that, Lina. Glru, and you figure out how we could trigger any other doors to lose, if need be?"

Tobias looks worried. "I think I'd appreciate some calm right now."

Glru: "Glrus suggest everyone move close to wall while glru checks for floor door."

DM_Hallu: Reisha moves close to the wall.

Glru: ((search 25))

Anthony_Stieber nods and moves close to the wall.

Healer_Lina meditates, and a wave of calmness comes over everyone (DC 21 if you want to resist; even if you fail you can still defend yourself)

DM_Hallu: (what is a floor door? do you mean a trapdoor?)

Akavi complies.

Tobias does as he suggests.

Glru: ((yesyes, a trap door. a dungeon's dark when it's not lit, watch out you don�t fall in a pit.))

Healer_Lina backs up, and also fishes through her pack and palms an acorn.

Anthony_Stieber: ((He's a poet, wasn't presently aware of it))

DM_Hallu: (oh, I forgot to mention there are torches lighting the room. You do not see any trap doors.)

Healer_Lina: (sorry, not an acorn, a feather)

Glru: ((is anything nifty revealed?))

DM_Hallu: (Not in the floor, no)

Glru: ((also checks the ceiling, general trap search))

Akavi looks at Lina and speaks in Celestial. "Please watch what you cast."

Glru: ((and plummeting pointy things..))

Glru: ((imagining akavi getting mellow on the spell and turning into sillyputty))

DM_Hallu: (You do see that air is being supplied to you through thin vents in the wall. You suspect you are quite a ways underground. The shut portcullis is to the north, and there are doors to the south, southeast, and east. The southeast and east doors are locked. You do not see any traps anywhere.

DM_Hallu: Reisha takes a few deep breaths, supported by Lina's calming aura, and begins to speak in stiff, unpracticed Common. "Fellows, understand you what this is?"

Glru: "it is like, dungeon or something."

Akavi raises an eyebrow. "Please, elaborate."

Glru: ((what are the chances!?))

Akavi: ((1d20))

DM_Hallu: (of a dungeon in a d&d game? I don't know, it's, like, totally weird.)

Glru: ((snerk!)

DM_Hallu: Reisha moves her mouth a little, trying to work out how to say it in Common, then gives up and reverts to Dwarvish. "I agreed to be sacrificed. There was a ceremony. It's like... the lizard version of being under oath. I didn't really understand what I was doing at the time. Because I changed my mind, it's... well, it's a crime." She looks up nervously at the room around you. "This is what they do to criminals. A trial by ordeal."

Tobias looks confused, as he has no idea what she just said. "Uh... could someone translate?"

Akavi looks displeased. "I tried to tell her you DIDN'T change your mind. Well then."

DM_Hallu: Ika translates.

Tobias: "Oh... that doesn't sound good."

Healer_Lina: "So... all we must do is endure the test?"

Akavi: "On the other hand, if this is a technical legal proceeding then we probably aren't accountable for the damage we cause."

Akavi: "Unless, of course, they care to inform us of the rules."

DM_Hallu: "If I remember right..." says Reisha. "Somewhere down here, there's a stone that represents the sun. If we can find it and escape, we are forgiven. If not..."

Akavi: "Not forgiven?"

DM_Hallu: Reisha nods.

Glru thumps on the door with his wrench and bellows "If you send Glru on Dungeon Crawl, you will return Glru's guns and little wrenches! Also Zachiixcu owes Glru 18 gold for bullet he shot at healer girl!"

Tobias: "Yeah... I kinda wish I had my sword and armor back now..."

Glru: "also little knife. has sentimental value."

DM_Hallu: "Ssh!" says a tinny voice, carrying through one of the air vents near you. "Not so loud! Someone will hear!"

Anthony_Stieber: "H-hello? Who's there?"

Akavi: ((Can we identify the vent?))

Glru perks his ears and peers into the vent "Hello little vent. Glru sometimes talks to walks, but walls, they do not usually talk back."

DM_Hallu: "Is Zachiixcu," hisses the voice, "but ssh, am not supposed to be doing this. Am not supposed even to be knowing how to do this. Big trouble for Zachiixcu. Is portcullis closed?" (It is the southwest vent.)

Glru: "door is closed, but only because your door close strangely.

Akavi nods, then remembers she's probably not visible. "Yes."

Glru: ((me scampers too kitchen for snackage))

DM_Hallu: "Then nothing Zachiixcu can do about door," says the vent. "But here. Zachiixcu want you not die. Zachiixcu knew this coming. Church of the Sun more and more ruthless, Zachiixcu give you present, help you survive test."

Akavi walks to the vent. "Many thanks, Zachiixcu."

DM_Hallu: You hear a strange thumping and banging sound, and a large canvas bag on a rope is slowly lowered through the vent. Once it reaches the bottom - your room - the rope drops.

DM_Hallu: Inside the bag are all the weapons you gave up at the gate to the village.

Akavi loads her dagger into her wrist holster. "Wait! Before you go, tell me something only you would know."

Anthony_Stieber: "Hey, thanks Zachiixcu," Anthony says "I really appreciate it."

DM_Hallu: Zachiixcu sounds confused. "Zachiixcu not think there anything special only Zachiixcu know..."

Akavi: "Anything at all?"

Glru: ((returns with cheeze doodles *do-do-do-doooooo*))

DM_Hallu: "Zachiixcu normal gate guard as far as Zachiixcu know. No important knowledge not shared by rest of guards, rest of village. Why you want imaginary knowledge?"

Akavi: "I want something to confirm your identity, my friend."

Tobias looks very happy at the return of their weapons and starts donning his armor.

Glru slots away his weapons in usual locations. "Glru is grateful for return of guns. Glru let Zachiixcu keep 18 gold for bullet."

Tobias: "Hey, why don't you ask him how to work a gun? No one else in the village knows how to do that, right?"

Glru hmms suspiciously and checks the loads on his pistols.

Akavi turns to tobias, and shakes his head.

Akavi: ((HER head.))

Anthony_Stieber clears his throat. "If you won't do it then I will."

DM_Hallu: Zachiixcu gives a long, drawn-out "oh" of understanding. "When you come to Ixtlanco," he says, "you call Sayenya sunspot. And you give gun name. Is Verah. This good knowledge?"

Anthony_Stieber: ((Darn. XD))

Akavi: ((Do I need line of sight to cast charm person?))

Anthony_Stieber: "Just one more thing, Mr Zachiixcu. How do you work a gun?"

DM_Hallu: (I'd allow you to cast it in this case if you wanted.)

Healer_Lina: ((Uh..... why do we care, guys?))

Akavi: ((OK, working up a post))

DM_Hallu: (I'm confused about that too, actually)

Anthony_Stieber: ((Because it makes for good roleplaying. :3))

Tobias: ((yeah, me too XD he gave us weapons, it doesn't really matter who he is.))

Healer_Lina: ((Anthony's clinically paranoid?))

Akavi: ((Changeling contingency. If I have something that only he would know, then I can pretent to be him and confirm "my" identity.))

DM_Hallu: "To use gun, hold straight, pull trigger near handle. Careful of fingers."

Glru: "also, what is trial? Trial is get outside? trial is slay giant bumpus? trial is find decent keg of dwarvish brandy?"

Anthony_Stieber: "Okay, That's all we needed to know."

Akavi: ((It might help, and I'm willing to spend a spell slot for the chance.))

Glru: ((Akavi, you have enough mass to pretend to be Zachiixcu's left thigh.

DM_Hallu: "Find sun stone," says Zachiixcu. "Sun stone let you escape. Sun stone and exit both upwards. That all Zachiixcu know."

Tobias: ((XDDD))

Glru: ((and possibly torso))

DM_Hallu: (Akavi and Zachiixcu are both medium.)

DM_Hallu: (And Akavi's a tall human now to keep out of the mud, remember?)

Akavi: ((That's all it takes, baby.))

Glru: ((akavi is little medium, skinny woman medium, Zaichu is large medium, almost Glru sized. unless Akavi can do hollow.))

DM_Hallu: (Skinny women are allowed to be tall, though)

Healer_Lina: (("A lizardfolk can weigh from 200 to 250 pounds. "))

DM_Hallu: "Someone coming," says Zachiixcu. "Must go. Blessings of Sun and Earth upon you!"

Akavi: ((Changeling morphology is a thrilling thing.))

Tobias: ((I think she could do it, she'd just be less dense))

Akavi: ((Ack, quick!))

Akavi works her hands and mutters arcane words. "Zachiixcu, I need to know something that would a secret. That we outsiders couldn't possibly know. Is there anything like that?"

DM_Hallu: Zachiixcu hisses into the vent "Last night Zachiixcu have dream about frogs." Then he scampers away.

Tobias: ((awww, that cute and so unhelpful XD))

Anthony_Stieber: ((I'd love to see how that helps. :3))

Akavi looks chagrinned and steps back to the group.

Akavi: ((Really, it wasn't a bad plan...))

Glru: "is good you have weapons. expensive for glru to shoot everything by himself."

DM_Hallu: (Hey, it's something only he would know...)

Akavi: "Some of us don't even need bullets" Akavi snipes.

Akavi: ((God forbid this campaign last long enough for me to cast Wish on your watch, Hallu...))

DM_Hallu: ((Why, what would happen then?))

Glru shrugs "could make wish swamp gas and flamestriker... whosh!"

Akavi: ((Literal interpretation clause))

DM_Hallu: ((Oh, true. *goes to AVEN and plays the Ruin A Wish Game*))

Anthony_Stieber starts looking a little concerned.

Akavi claps her hands. "Alright, let's get this caravan on the road."

DM_Hallu: ((actually, I'm embarrassed because I didn't realize that wouldn't work. I need to read the Changeling text more closely. but whatever, what's done is done.))

Anthony_Stieber: "I never expected to be put in a situation like this when I was hired out."

Glru: (i'd have asked something *everyone* knows about you. see, we'd be the only ones that *didn't* know it before.)

Tobias: "Yeah, life is full of surprises."

Akavi: ((Apparently, I need to take a closer look, too.))

Akavi: "Who sees the stupid stone?"

Glru: ((has anyone else notices Akavi 'sniped' about bullets?))

Healer_Lina: ((Hallu - can you describe the exits to the room in as much detail as possible?))

DM_Hallu: ((I noticed that.))

Anthony_Stieber sighs. "Why'd they have to pick me out of all the members of Verity for this job?" Suddenly, he realizes what he's said and claps his hand over his mouth.

Akavi: ((Yeah, I'm bad like that.))

Tobias: ((Verity?))

Akavi shoots him a look that's one spell level away from "gaze attack"

Anthony_Stieber: ((You'll find out. :3))

Glru: ((you know, the spice of life))

Anthony_Stieber: ((No, that's Variety. XD))

Akavi: ((Oh. I was going to go with "nutmeg".))

Glru: ((no that's the showbiz magazine))

Anthony_Stieber: ((*facepalms and giggles*))

DM_Hallu: To the south, southeast, and east, there are doors. They are unreinforced wooden doors with no particularly interesting qualities. The southeast and east ones are locked, one with a cruciform lock, the other with a lever tumbler lock. They are both old and a little weatherbeaten but still solid.

DM_Hallu: ((if anyone wants to make a knowledge (whatever) check to see if they know what Verity is, they're welcome to it))

Glru herds people towards the open door to the south "Glru sees two ways to proceed. one, is glru checks each door for traps, two is let fox open doors to check for traps.

Anthony_Stieber: ((Or just prod Anthony enough times and he'll explain.))

Akavi: ((Nobility and Royalty: 15))

Healer_Lina: ((soooo.... would anyone here, in character, know the old "follow one wall to never get lost in dungeons" trick?))

Glru: ((oh hey, i have 3 ranks in knowledge (whatever)))

Tobias: ((oh yeah, I remember that. Does that actually work?))

Akavi looks around. "My eyes are far from keen, although I can summon some sharp-eyed aid."

Akavi: ((As long as all the walls are continuous))

DM_Hallu: Glru - rofl. Akavi - House Verity is a house devoted to spying and information gathering. House Aletheia sometimes subcontracts to them when their own scouts and spies are not sufficient to a job.

Akavi: ((Not sufficient? Bah! Akavi's vanity makes him hate Anthony even more.))

Healer_Lina: ((Unless the walls change by themselves, it's pretty reliable... you might not find everything, but you'll at least always be able to get back to the start.))

Glru: ((Glru would, his dwarvish master was a dungeon crawler during his journeyman days, he used to say "Glru me bye, there is a word for the sort of person that enjoys dungeons. the word is "moron" but if you get out the other end with most of your bits still on, then you probly have a shitload of gold too."

Anthony_Stieber: ((So Akavi's not concerned that there's a potential spy in the party? XD))

DM_Hallu: (House Aletheia's devoted to military service, not espionage, so it's understandable that they'd sometimes need extra resources in their non-specialty)

DM_Hallu: (well, military service and adventuring)

Glru 's only secrets are the ones he gets paid for, so spies don't concern him much.

Glru searches for traps on the south door.

Akavi: ((Akavi is an espionage specialist as well, and has the benefit of good spells and the fact that Anthony hasn't yet confronted him for being a shapechanger, which probably means he doesn't know.))

Akavi: ((Also, no moral qualms about dealing with this issue later, once they're safely out.))

DM_Hallu: (akavi - good point. glru - wait, what secrets do you get paid for? also, roll me a Search.)

Anthony_Stieber: ((XD we should be taking these discussions into IC, but whatever))

Glru: ((do my masterwork tools count on the searching, or just the disabling? 26 with them 24 without))

Akavi: ((Akavi also feels no particular need to share Anthony's allegiance, but she'll give him a glare that means she does know, and she will tell if he steps out of line.))

Healer_Lina: (("+2 circumstance bonus on Disable Device and Open Lock checks. "))

DM_Hallu: (that depends. masterwork thieves' tools only work on disable device and open lock. if they are some other sort of tools then you should have specified a skill on your character sheet)

DM_Hallu: You do not find any traps on the south door.

Glru: ((glru gets paid for knowing what to hit and where to hit it, also for knowing which part should probably not be hit. that last part is why his elvish master was glad he went on his journey. many elfthings are fragile))

DM_Hallu: (oh, I see. XD)

Tobias: ((did you have two masters?))

Glru: ((a dwarf and an elf, yes, together they ran a business making engines, mechanical devices and steamjacks. the dwarf made metal and heavy things, the elf made magic and fragile things, between them they didn't have to subcontract anything, thus were very successful.))

Akavi walks to the center of the room and peers around, not really dedicating her eyesight to the task. "Is this room free of sunstones?"

Anthony_Stieber: ((By the way Akavi, you don't know quite yet -why- Anthony was hired out. You never know, he might be aware of your true self given the newspaper article that came out shortly after the events of last adventure. That's all I'll say for now, the rest is for In Character. :3))

Glru: ((Glru learned from both of them at once. The dwarf say "hitit here," the elf said "please don't hit that... ...again"))

DM_Hallu: "You'd know the sunstone if you saw it," says Reisha in Dwarvish. "It's supposed to be - like - really shiny and things."

Akavi: ((The newspaper article said nothing about a changeling, and I'm fine not knowing. For now.))

DM_Hallu: ((Okay, nobody is allowed to talk OOC anymore until their character has said or done something IC.))

Akavi nods at Reisha, and says in common, "Then someone open another door."

Anthony_Stieber: "Alright, I'll do it", Anthony says, walking over to one of the other doors.

Glru: "standing back, in case this has explodey things Glru did not find..."

Healer_Lina stands back and covers Reisha.

Akavi steps back.

DM_Hallu: You open the door to find a narrow corridor, just wide enough to let lizardfolk or similar Medium creatures march through in single file. Small people could probably go through double file, but it would be tight. Nothing explodes.

Glru stands at arm's length and twists the south door's knob with his wrench.

Anthony_Stieber heaves a sign of relief.

Anthony_Stieber: ((Sigh*))

Anthony_Stieber: ((XD *holds up a huge sign saying "Relief" on it*))

Akavi: ((Do we need a light source?))

Glru: "check locked doors for goodies before we go?"

DM_Hallu: (No, there are everburning torches every few feet.)

Akavi nods. "A good suggestion, Glru."

Anthony_Stieber nods and gets ready to open more doors if needed.

Healer_Lina sighs to herself and plays with her companion Dove.

Glru checks the other two doors for traps, first southeast, then east (wow, 19 and 20, so 28 an 29)

DM_Hallu: You do not see any traps.

Glru: open lock on southeast 16. i rools a 4. fear my 4!

DM_Hallu: It doesn't open.

Glru: 22?

DM_Hallu: It looks a bit iffy for a few moments, but at last the lock snaps open.

Akavi: ((To reveal...))

Glru: (( what's a cruciform lock anyway?))

DM_Hallu: The door opens onto another, similar narrow corridor, only in this one the walls open out to reveal a yawning chasm on either side of a 1-foot-wide path.

Glru adds the lock to his bag o stuff

DM_Hallu ((It's some sort of lock that's on the list of kinds of lock in the Wikipedia.))

Akavi looks through the door. "Charming."

Anthony_Stieber: "Seems like someone would need a lot of coordination to get past that."

Akavi: ((Next door, Glru?))

DM_Hallu: ((just a DC 10 Balance check...))

Anthony_Stieber: ((Cool, I'll risk it. :3))

Glru nudges akavi and says "by way, if anyone asks you wiggle fingers, make weapons appear... "

Anthony_Stieber: ((Do I add a dex bonus to my Balance roll if I have no skill points?))

Glru: ((yep))

Glru works on other lock.

Akavi looks at Glru and smiles. "Like magic."

Anthony_Stieber: ((Rolled an 11 on that check. Awesome. ^^))

Glru: ((bomp bomp bomp! 31!))

DM_Hallu: The lock opens easily.

DM_Hallu: (Is this the skill where you get special benefits if you beat it by more than 10? I forgot.)

Anthony_Stieber: ((We're going all different ways here. Whoops.))

Akavi: ((You can scout ahead)

DM_Hallu: Anthony wanders off across the pit and does not fall.

Glru: ((only if i'm trying to take it apart, so no.))

DM_Hallu: (ok.)

DM_Hallu: You see another narrow corridor on the other side of the door. This one does not have a pit.

Glru: ((if it was a trap, then i could keep the pieces, and sketch it out so i could build another one.))

Anthony_Stieber: ((Alright then, I'll go ahead through that corridor))

Anthony_Stieber: ((Oh wait, you were talking to Glru, right? My bad.))

DM_Hallu: No! No! *Glru* sees a narrow corridor!

Anthony_Stieber: ((Okay then. ^^;))

Akavi walks to the door with the pit and calls over to Anthony (once he gets to the other side of the pit) "Anything?"

DM_Hallu: Anthony, you get across the pit and see a door that is closed.

Anthony_Stieber: Alright then, I guess I go ahead and open the door.

Glru: "Master Grumlar used to say (switches to dwarvish, obviously doing an impression) "the valuable stuff is alway behind the most F*cking dangerous thing in the dungeon" he switches back to common "which means, greater risk makes greater reward.

Akavi looks at him. "Your master sounds like a charming gentleman."

Glru: "Master Grumlar is not gentle or man. Master Grumlar is Dwarf, smith, mechanik and gunner."

DM_Hallu: You see another room. It is a little dustier than the first room, but you can't see much more than that unless you step into the room.

Anthony_Stieber: Alright then, I guess I'll step into the room and see what's inside. *is very curious, which may lead to his demise*

Akavi: "Well, yes. I was being sarcastic."

DM_Hallu: ...Right. Roll Initiative.

Anthony_Stieber: ((Uh oh. XD))

DM_Hallu: ((Seriously, WHO goes wandering off by themselves in a dungeon?))

Healer_Lina: "So Reisha, what first got you interested in the Lizards?

Akavi: ((Heee))

Anthony_Stieber: ((7. D: ))

Glru looks around "where is fox?"

DM_Hallu: "Well, Falrim did, of course."

Tobias: "He went down that narrow path through the second door."

DM_Hallu: And what's your AC, Anthony?

DM_Hallu: (I forgot to write that on my PC cheat sheet...)

Anthony_Stieber: ((A mere 17. XD I'm so doomed aren't I?))

Akavi smiles and says nothing.

Glru: ((17 is a LOT for a non combatant))

Anthony_Stieber: ((Yes, well I have good dex and I'm small, so yeah.))

Anthony_Stieber: ((I have even more if I'm fighting defensively or taking full defense.))

Healer_Lina: "And how did he find out about them?"

DM_Hallu: Two sharp objects fly across the room. One hits you in the chest, doing 3 points of damage, the other bounces off the door next to you. The sharp object is, upon closer inspection, a fang, still attached to the mouth of a Large spiderlike creature hiding in a web at the north side of the room.

DM_Hallu: Your move.

Tobias: "I'm sure he'll give a shout if he finds anything."

Anthony_Stieber: "Sp-Sp-SPIDER!"

Akavi looks up. "Speak of the fiend."

Anthony_Stieber: ((well, I pretty much flee out of the room, which also adds 1 to my AC for skirmisher))

Glru: "Glru suspects he has found one or many spiders."

Anthony_Stieber: ((Of course I'm going to have to cross the pit again, aren't I?))

DM_Hallu: ((oops, sorry, i read that attack entry wrong. it's actually still the spider's turn. What's your touch AC?))

Akavi: "Oh, I hope it one only one. He didn't pluralize, and I hate tactical imprecision."

Glru stands and shifts his wrench to 'spider whomping' grip.

DM_Hallu: ((see, it drags you in after harpooning, i thought it did it on separate turns, but it actually does it on the same one.))

Anthony_Stieber: ((Touch AC is what again?))

DM_Hallu: ((It's your AC minus any armor bonuses.))

Anthony_Stieber: ((That'd be 15 then))

DM_Hallu: Also, make a Dex check.

Glru peeks down the hall to see if Anthony is running back towards them, seeing it is not so he sighs "We should save him?" he's obviously not entirely sure that we should.

Anthony_Stieber: ((19))

Tobias looks at the narrow path. "Anyone here have really good balance?" Akavi looks at Glru. "Actually, I'm beginning to have serious doubts about Anthony as an ally."

DM_Hallu: The fang rips free of you, doing another 5 points of damage, but keeping you free of the spider's maw for now. *Now* it's your turn.

Akavi: ((This is SO the right time.))

Glru hands tobias the end of a rope, uncoiling it as he walks across "We hold rope, makes handrail. if Glru falls, you pull up."

Anthony_Stieber: ((Right, well I flee out of the room, screaming for help and adding 1 to my AC, making it 18))

Tobias nods, taking the rope. "Right."

DM_Hallu: Make a Balance check, Anthony.

Healer_Lina: "Glru - I'm lighter. I'll go."

Glru: ((balance 18))

Anthony_Stieber: ((11 again ;_; my rolls are horrible))

Akavi prepares to provide ranged support, if anything besides Anthony emerges.

Glru: "Glru is feline, has nimble feets. humans even little ones have fumbley paws.

DM_Hallu: Anthony, you make it a few feet, and then you bump into Glru and fall.

Anthony_Stieber: ((Uh oh.))

Glru: (onto the platform or into the pit?)

Tobias: ((wait, has Glru even gone on the path yet?))

Anthony_Stieber: (("This wasn't the way I wanted to gooooooooo..."))

DM_Hallu: Into the pit. (Yes he has, he said he walked across.)

Glru grabs for anthony with his rope hand, the other being occupied by the wrench.

Akavi looks down into the pit.

Anthony_Stieber: ((So, what's in the pit?))

DM_Hallu: Make a Dex check, Glru.

Glru: (24, no problem)

Anthony_Stieber: ((My life may very well depend on it.))

Glru: (19 plus 5 point dex bonus, do i add anything else?)

DM_Hallu: The pit is very dark and deep and you can't see the bottom. You'll never know if you would have survived or not, though, because Glru catches you by the back of your armor and hauls you back up.

Healer_Lina: ((Someone's been stringing a rope across, right?))

Anthony_Stieber: "Th-thanks, man. I was sure I'd be a goner."

DM_Hallu: (That was Glru and Tobias.)

Tobias gives a sigh of relief, still keeping a firm hold on the rope.

Glru: if it is close enough to safely do so, Glru throws anthony back to the rest of the party.

Akavi takes a moment to pick up a stone, cast Light on it, and drop it into the pit.

Akavi also dodges flying Anthony.

DM_Hallu: The stone falls about fifty feet before hitting the bottom with a soft thud.

Glru: (strength check 20)

DM_Hallu: Anthony is thrown back into the first room with no serious mishaps.

Akavi: ((Anything interesting down there?))

Glru: ((or would that be ranged attack?)

DM_Hallu: Just hewn stone.

Akavi: "Well, shall be try another path?"

Anthony_Stieber: "Woah!" Anthony yelped as he was thrown back into the first room.

Akavi: "Oh, you're fine."

Anthony_Stieber: ((Good job I didn't die pathetically like that. XD I'd rather go out with a bang))

Akavi: "Stop whining."

Glru checks for pursuing spiders(spot 20)

DM_Hallu: ((You guys are awesome))

DM_Hallu: The spider is not pursuing. It does not appear to be able to fit through the door.

Akavi: ((Ha. Fatty.))

Anthony_Stieber curls up into a shivering ball. "I... h-h-HATE... spiders..."

Akavi looks at Anthony. "That's nice. Did you see a stone?"

Healer_Lina: ((Know Nature 16....))

Anthony_Stieber: "C-Couldn't... see... anything... but... sp-spider..."

Glru: "do we squish spider and see if it has stone?"

Tobias gives Anthony a sympathetic look. "Maybe you should stick by us from now on. No offense, but you have a tendency of getting into trouble."

Akavi looks doubtfully back into the hall. "I... don't know about walking over that pit."

DM_Hallu: ((Know Nature 16 about what, Lina?))

Healer_Lina: ((About harpoon-spider-thingy, of course! :P))

Anthony_Stieber: "The... the advice is... much appreciated..." Anthony replies to Tobias.

Healer_Lina casts Cure Light on Anthony for 15 points of healing.

DM_Hallu: Harpoon spiders are giant spiders with humanlike eyes and hands and a lot of spines. They are very creepy and often intelligent. They catch prey with teeth that shoot from its mouth like harpoons, hence the name.

Glru: "Glru and Tobias will hold rope, good for balance, keep you from falling.

Anthony_Stieber feels better, though is still deeply traumatized by the sight of the spider he saw.

Glru: ((add to balance roll, probly not let you fall for laughs.))

Akavi looks marginally more interested in crossing the pit now that there's a system in place.

Healer_Lina: ((So... the spider is intelligent? Does it have a language?))

Glru looks for something solid to tie off to, failing that jabs pointy end of wrench between cracks in floor and braces with its help.

DM_Hallu: ((yes, as a matter of fact, it does.))

Akavi: ((If Lina is sharing info, I can start shouting out greetings))

Glru: ((glru decides his last laguage is "creepy things in dungeons'))

DM_Hallu: ((you mean Undercommon? :P ))

Healer_Lina: "Let me try something."

Healer_Lina walks towards the Harpoon Spider Thingy room, with arms wide and Calm Emotions up at full strength.

Akavi waves her hand. "Be my guest."

Glru: ((or maybe rabbit: buncommon))

DM_Hallu: ((what's the dc on that again? 18?))

Akavi looks at Lina with incredulity.

Healer_Lina: ((I leveled; it's DC 21 now))

DM_Hallu: ((oooh.))

Glru: ((hey lina, you gonna cross the pit first or teleport to the spider room?))

Akavi: ((Dim Door))

DM_Hallu: ((oh right, yeah, that's a Balance check.))

Tobias holds his end of the rope tightly.

Healer_Lina: ((What's the plus for using Tobias's rope?))

Glru: ((how much does the rope reduce the DC?))

DM_Hallu: ((I'd say it gives you +5))

Anthony_Stieber: ((And wouldn't Lina need to Use Rope? Just curious))

DM_Hallu: ((No. Use Rope is for, like, tying things.))

Anthony_Stieber: ((Oh, okay. ^^))

DM_Hallu: ((Holding onto a rope requires no skill.))

Healer_Lina: ((*rolls poorly* 14 then?))

DM_Hallu: 14 gets you across quite safely.

DM_Hallu: The harpoon spider hisses and watches you with its eight unaccountably human eyes, but it doesn't shoot.

Akavi tries to follow, but stays out of line of sight with the door.

Glru: ((Glru's rope. and it's silk. if you were climbing it and had 5 ranks in use rope you'd get +2 synergy bonus to climb, but alas, this is not climbing.))

Akavi: ((Roll: 13))

Anthony_Stieber slowly but surely gets up, certain that he's safe from the spider now, but not knowing where everyone else has gone.

DM_Hallu: ((Is that a roll to get across the pit, Akavi?))

Akavi: ((Yes.))

Healer_Lina addresses Spider-thing: "Do you understand Common?"

DM_Hallu: Anthony, Ika and Reisha are still in the room with you.

Glru: ((we're working on crossing the pit))

DM_Hallu: You make it across too, Akavi.

DM_Hallu: "And what is it to you if I do?" says the spider, in perfect Common, in a whispery voice.

Akavi sidles into the room, staying slightly behind Lina, but ready to help with other languages.

Akavi: ((Which is apparently unnecessary))

Anthony_Stieber: ((Would I be able to hear conversations from that room? At least Lina's voice?))

DM_Hallu: ((Sure.))

DM_Hallu: In case anyone cares, it has ten legs rather than eight. There is no apparent reason for this.

Anthony_Stieber: ((I'd probably need to roll Listen to hear the spider though, since it's got a whispery voice. Am I right?))

DM_Hallu: ((Yeah, sure.))

Anthony_Stieber: ((In that case, a 29 on the listen check. ^^))

Healer_Lina: "What is it you want?"

Anthony_Stieber: ((Considers shouting through for the spider to apologize for its actions. XD))

DM_Hallu: "Food," says the spider. "To feed. I'm terribly hungry. You two are too pretty to eat. Such tender little morsels, and you'll go to waste. I don't understand."

Tobias: ((ha. ha. ha.))

DM_Hallu: (Ika, Reisha, and Anthony.)

Anthony_Stieber: ((I do, though I'm a terrible arachnophobe. XD))

Akavi indicates her appreciation of the sort-of compliment.

Anthony_Stieber shakily crosses the pit once more with the assistance of the rope.

DM_Hallu: You make it.

Healer_Lina: "And you cannot leave this room to find more food elsewhere?"

Glru suggests that Ika help Reisha across since dwarves are not known for great balance except for the cliffworkers.

Anthony_Stieber enters the room shakily, and tries not to make contact with the beast's eyes.

Akavi wonders is Anthony is too pretty to eat.

DM_Hallu: The spider shakes its spidery head. "Look at these doors. All of them made for tiny little morsels like you. I am condemned to this web."

Anthony_Stieber: ((Well, he already tried to eat me once.))

Glru: ((obviously not, but he might taste bad ))

Akavi: ((He might not have gotten a good look at you.))

DM_Hallu: "My, there are many of you! I could feast, if I wasn't so... I don't understand what's come over me."

DM_Hallu: Ika and Reisha come in tentatively and stay in the background.

Anthony_Stieber: ((Because every good RP needs extras))

Glru also suggests Tobias tie the rope around him, just in case.

Anthony_Stieber: ((Tie the rope around who? o.o; ))

Akavi turns to Lina. "I'm afraid transmutation is not a school with which I'm overly familiar, so I can't aid in the "size" respect."

Tobias does so.

Tobias: ((myself, I'm guessing))

Healer_Lina: *speaks behind without taking eyes off spider-man* "Glru, Tobias, would either of you be able to expand one of those door?"

Glru: ((yep, so you go swing-clang instead of whisssssstle *clang* if you missstep))

Glru: "Glru will check after shiny friend crosses"

Anthony_Stieber: ((Well I'm going to search the room, away from the spider-thing of course, just in case there's anything of interest here))

Glru reels in rope as tobias crosses.

Anthony_Stieber: ((23 on that search check))

Tobias blinks. "Uh... I don't know. Maybe if we both tried we could break it wider...?"

Akavi takes a try with the spider. "While we wait, you wouldn't happen to know anything about a "sunstone", would you?"

Tobias looks hesitantly at the path.

Glru: "Hold arms wide, if you fall Glru will catch.

DM_Hallu: Anthony, there appears to be some treasure and discarded weapons and things in the harpoon spider's web, but you stay too far away to get a close look at them. Besides the door you came in, there is a locked door (with a combination lock! it is fancy!) in the east, and what appears to be the release mechanism for a ladder in the south wall.

Glru prepares to throw himself to the left if tobias falls right and vice versa, so the path will act as a sort of pully.

Tobias grimaces. "Alright...." He starts to walk across, carefully.

Tobias: ((... great. 1. XD))

DM_Hallu: Tobias, you trip. :D

Anthony_Stieber: "Hmm..." Anthony looks with curiosity at the release mechanism.

Glru sees tobias start to fall and *Yanks* on the rope.

Glru: ((trying to get him across before he goes over))

DM_Hallu: The spider hisses. "I hear of the sun stone. I hear of it, yes, many times, while a morsel is dying. 'No, you must let me go! I must reach the sun stone and exonerate myself!' They are funny morsels. But I do not know where it is. I have never seen it. Many of the morsels seem to believe it is..." It jerks its head towards the ceiling. "Up."

DM_Hallu: Glru, make a Strength check.

Anthony_Stieber: ((Curiosity hasn't killed me so far. It nearly did, but I'm still alive so I guess I try activating the mechanism. Probably not a wise choice now that I think about it...))

DM_Hallu: ((so, is that a "yes I do" or a "no wait I don't"?))

Glru: ((oh dear, 15.))

Akavi: ((I would, um, asker permission first....))

DM_Hallu: You make it, just barely, and both of you stumble clumsily into the room.

Anthony_Stieber: ((Good point. That's a No Wait I Don't until further notice. xD))

Glru cheers "HA!" and thumps Tobias on his breastplate "Glru has saved you! You will buy drinks!"

Akavi inclines her head. "Many thanks. Do you have a name?"

Healer_Lina: "Thank you. And if we widen the door to let you move through it, will you let us all pass through?" (Diplo 37)

Tobias takes a deep breath to steady himself, then smiles at Glru. "Yeah, ok. Soon as we get out of here."

Akavi: ((Let's see about widening that door...))

Healer_Lina: ((Three cheers for Diplomancers!))

Akavi: ((Hip hip HOORAY!))

Akavi: ((Mostly for you.))

DM_Hallu: "A name... why, yes, pretty morsel, yes, I do. My name is Sispirirnithas." It turns to Lina. "I suppose I would, at that."

Anthony_Stieber: ((What's the spider's disposition towards us anyway?))

DM_Hallu: ((It *was* I'm-going-to-eat-you Hostile. Now it's Friendly.))

Anthony_Stieber: ((Ahh, okay. No chance to work my little magic here yet. XD))

DM_Hallu: ((Lina makes your little magic redundant, I'm afraid))

Anthony_Stieber: ((Darnit.))

Glru helps Tobias to his feet, coils up his rope, retrieves wrench, puts bits that likely fell out of his junkbag back into his junkbag, notices enormous spider.

Akavi: "Thank you, Sispirinithas. Those are interesting things you have in your web."

DM_Hallu: "They are, aren't they? Pretty colors. Remains of past morsels. I look at them when I am hungry."

Anthony_Stieber: ((Looking forward to the next opportunity to use Omega Wolf))

Anthony_Stieber shudders.

Akavi: "May I see them closer? Perhaps we could trade?"

Glru flexes his sphinker a few times to verify integrity before examining the doorway for breakability "Glru would be happy to see very large spider waiting when scaley bitch opens door."

DM_Hallu: The spider hisses - not a hostile hiss, but a general spidery sound of mild interest. "Trade? And what do you have that would be of use to trade?"

Healer_Lina: "Do you eat cooked meat? We may have some to trade."

Anthony_Stieber: ((Please don't say Anthony please don't say Anthony please don't say Anthony))

Tobias: ((XD))

Akavi: "I have a device that captures images. You could look at HIM" she jerks her head towards Anthony "when you're hungry."

Anthony_Stieber lets out a mild whimper.

Akavi: ((I was actually intending that even before you made it irresistible.))

Tobias nods to the doorway. "Any idea how we should do this so it doesn't just collapse?"

Glru: "Glru has Iron rations, there is meat, and also something that is like meat in them. Glru was told not to ask."

DM_Hallu: The spider inclines its head. "Cooked meat... it is not fine dining, but it will do, yes, it will stave off the hungers. And an image would be most intriguing."

Anthony_Stieber raises an objection. "W-wouldn't the image of me just make this... thing hungrier?"

Glru: "you could eat fox.... so far he is not so very usefull..."

Healer_Lina: "I believe we have a deal, then." *smiles up at the creature*

DM_Hallu: It opens its mouth in the arachnoid ghost of a smile. "It will give me fond memories, morsel. I can still taste your flesh on my fangs."

Glru: "glru will probably eat him later..."

Anthony_Stieber gasps.

Anthony_Stieber: "Th-this isn't funny, guys!"

Akavi removes a memory crystal from her pack and holds it in her hand. "I can use it for you, to capture the image. But I'd like to examine your treasures more closely."

Glru examines the doorway again.

Akavi looks at Anthony as an aside. "No; it's business."

Glru: ((I think 'demolish' only work if it's mechanical, should the doorway count?))

DM_Hallu: ((No, for the doorway you'd have to do an insane amount of damage to crumble the stone. And you'd have to do it for *two* doorways, the pit isn't very useful.))

Anthony_Stieber sighs.

Glru murmurs quietly as he inspect the doorway "Glru cannot wait to tell Master Grumlar that humans talk monsters out of fighting."

Healer_Lina: ((What size category are we talking about for the creature?))

Akavi: ((Large))

DM_Hallu: The spider steps to the side, allowing you into its web to look more closely at its treasures. But it keeps its claws in the air in case you try to steal.

DM_Hallu: ((It's only Large.))

Glru: ((i figure the spider could scamper across the pit, walkway being much thicker than a web))

Akavi steps up to the web and looks at the items, keeping her hands in plain view.

Glru: ((and the pit is for broken stones))

DM_Hallu: ((yes, but there's another doorway between the pit and the main room))

Akavi: ((How the heck do I do this, now. I don't have any ranks in appraise.))

Healer_Lina: ((It could also dine on whatever's above or below the pit... and it shouldn't actually take much to get a Large creature through a Medium doorway))

Glru asks "Did anyone bring grenades? sure would be nice to have some grenades right about now..."

Anthony_Stieber: (("Blessed be thy hand grenade...))

Akavi: ((Any chance of you just telling me what's in the web, Hallu?))

Glru: ((i think the problem is that the thorax is the part that's bigger than the door))

Anthony_Stieber: ((*forgets the whole Holy Hand Grenade speech actually))

DM_Hallu: The spider has many gold and platinum pieces scattered in its web. It also has a nice looking blue gem, a masterwork composite longbow, and a masterwork spear.

Tobias shakes his head. "Maybe Ika's wands could do some damage?"

Anthony_Stieber: ((Don't let Ika see the gem!))

Akavi: ((Is there an estimate on the gold value of the cash?))

DM_Hallu: ((about 1000 gp value, you think.))

Akavi turns to the group. "Anything anyone is interested in, here?"

Anthony_Stieber: "I'm mostly interested in getting the hell out of here before that spider sets its eyes on me for too long." Anthony shudders again.

Akavi: "LANGuage!"

Glru shrugs and straightens and becons to lina.

Anthony_Stieber: ((^^; ))

DM_Hallu: ((Glru, Demolish won't work as written, but it'll give you some nice bonuses towards smashing the doorway further open by some other means))

Akavi turns to Sispirinithas. "What are you willing to part with for this image?"

Healer_Lina: "What is it, Glru?"

Healer_Lina moves over towards him, but keeps eyes (and smile) on spider thing.

DM_Hallu: The spider considers. "I'll give you this pretty blue stone... it is shiny and nice to look at, but an image of a pretty morsel, oh, that would be much, much better!"

Glru: "glru need to show you doorway, get opinion. You also Akavi..." Anthony_Stieber backs away nervously.

Akavi holds out a hand to Glru, indicating he should wait. "Perhaps the cash would be a fair exchange, friend?"

Akavi: ((Lina, stay calming and close, I beg you...))

DM_Hallu: "The cash would be a fair exchange, as well. But not ALL of the cash. Perhaps one hundred gold?"

DM_Hallu: "And more would be given for meat, of course."

Tobias: ((the stone is shiny. You never know, it could be magical or something))

Akavi shakes his head sadly. "I'm afraid I paid 200 gold for this tool. I can really go no less than 600."

DM_Hallu: "Five hundred," says the spider, somewhat arbitrarily.

Akavi: ((It could be. I have a scroll of identify, but I'm loathe to spend it on something that's probably just a stone.))

Healer_Lina: *to Glru* "I'm afraid my opinion on the doorway would be next to worthless."

Glru waits and waits.

Glru mentions to lina "Glue require magical opinion...Glru is not magical."

Akavi nods. "That sounds more than reasonable, Master Spider. It's my pleasure doing business with you. Just a moment."

DM_Hallu: Ika pipes up. "If you have a spell that shapes stone or softens stone, that would do it... or anything that shatters... or adamantine! Does anybody have adamantine?"

Akavi walks over to the doorway. And casts detect magic, sneaking a glance back at the gem while she's at it.

DM_Hallu: "Or you could just whack it and blast it a whole lot, I guess."

DM_Hallu: The gem is not magical. It is just a pretty blue stone.

Akavi: ((The door anything interesting?))

Glru: (bloooooooo!)

DM_Hallu: (No. In fact, there is no magic in the whole room.)

Tobias: ((I have a masterwork sword, but I doubt that's adamantine.))

Akavi: ((Aw.))

DM_Hallu: ((probably not))

Akavi turns to Glru. "There's no magic here, and I'm no architect. I can summon something up, but you're probably stronger anyway." She steps back from the wall, and motions to Anthony. "Come on now, try and look delicious."

Glru motions to lina "spider likes you, you should negotiate passage while Glru speaks to Akavi about violent magic for breaking door.

Anthony_Stieber shudders again. "I.. I..."

Akavi looks at Sispirinithas. "Does 'terrified' work for you?"

Anthony_Stieber starts to feel slightly faint.

DM_Hallu: "It does, it does indeed!" says the spider, a little too enthusiastically.

Healer_Lina: "I'm sorry Glru, my magic is entirely the wrong sort. I can give you berries that will restore your energy marvelously though, should the project require much effort..."

Akavi holds the crystal up to her eye and a chime is heard emanating from the item. After a few moments, she lowers it and walks back to the web.

Glru nods "Glru is sure it will be much effort..."

DM_Hallu: The spider peers curiously at the crystal, but does not interrupt Akavi from her conference with Glru.

DM_Hallu: (Heeee! But how will it breathe?)

Akavi: ((As in, kamakazie demolition.))

Glru drapes a companionable arm across Akavi's shoulder and speaks softly in elvish "I see that we have a small problem in that while we *could* break the door wider, it would quite possibly, in absence of an architect, bring the roof in on us. Even if it did not, would not your house consider releasing a giant spider into the village a 'hostile act'?"

Akavi: ((It doesn't need to, really. Not all that worried about its health.))

DM_Hallu: ((heh, good point))

Tobias: ((it would be as trapped in here as we would be))

Akavi replies in elvish, "In the absence of the ability to extradite us from a criminal proceeding for which, lawfully, I imagine the dwarf ought to face on our own... I'm honestly not sure how the seekers Volant would feel. In all fairness, the spider is a sentient life form and probably entitled to its escape if it manages to do so."

Glru continues "I would further suggest the entire pile of gold for nothing a much better bargain, and that perhaps something summoned ostensibly to destroy the wall could be used to fill the monster's jaws while we remove it from the equation."

Akavi looks at Sispirinithas. "How did you get down here?"

Tobias: ((we'd only be releasing it into that first room)) Akavi looks at Glru. "Also, it might speak Elvish."

Glru: "That is why I am whispering."

DM_Hallu: "It was years ago. So hard to remember... they made me small, and brought me in, and made me large again. Every once in a while they send me morsels. It seems to be part of the test, just like finding the sun stone... though honestly I'm not sure if there is a sun stone..."

DM_Hallu: The spider shows no signs of understanding Elvish.

Akavi: "I just like the idea of having a giant spider following us through the dungeon. Might be fun."

Anthony_Stieber glares at Akavi. "NO. It would NOT be fun."

Anthony_Stieber shudders again.

Glru twitches a little at that.

Tobias: "I'm not sure we could break that many doors..."

Akavi: ((How much damage would a squid jet do? Normally propels 240 feet.))

Akavi shrugs. "What can you do? I feel a common bond."

Anthony_Stieber: ((Things Mr Welch is no longer allowed to do in an RPG: No longer allowed to let a big creepy spider-like thing follow us through a dungeon because we made friends with it.))

DM_Hallu: ((Does it normally do damage if it aims its jet at someone? If so, it would do that much damage. If not, it would make the squid smack into the far wall before it had any effect on the one you were jetting at.))

Glru: "let them eat it when it is done doing beetley things..."

Akavi considers. "It's celestial, as much as I hate that. But really, it would just vanish, so there's no point."

DM_Hallu: The spider sniffs disdainfully. "Well, then what is it for?"

Akavi squinting his distaste for the Celestial language, he instructs the beetle to attack with it's acid attack.

DM_Hallu: And how many rounds does it stay?

Glru heads for the ladder release, inspecting it, casually replacing his wrench on his back with vera in his hands.

Tobias shakes his head. "Sorry."

Healer_Lina: ((That's.... a thick door, for an inside wall, isn't it?))

DM_Hallu: ((I dunno. How thick are inside walls supposed to be?))

Akavi: ((OOH! New plan! Ray of enfeeblement to make the stone brittle?))

DM_Hallu: ((That ... would be awesome, actually.))

Akavi: ((Yessssss!))

Healer_Lina: ((I was thinking half a foot, max))

DM_Hallu: ((Okay. It's half a foot of stone. Three beetles gets you halfway through.))

Glru whispers directly into tobias's ear "glru is not decorator, glru is bodger and fighter, do you want to fight spider with Glru?"

Akavi: ((Just hold on the other beetles until we try the ray.))

Akavi turns to Glru and looks at him. "Get ready with the wall-smashing."

Pointing a finger at the edge of the door, he summons a coursing green ray of energy that humms through the air and strikes the stone.

DM_Hallu: The stone makes a peculiar crackling sound.

Tobias blinks and then frowns slightly. "I don't really see the point when it's being friendly to us," he whispers back. Tobias looks up when Akavi speaks.

Akavi gives Glru some room.

Healer_Lina is still radiating Calmness throughout the room.

Akavi: ((Good. I haven't gotten my gold yet!))

Glru sighs heavily and trudges over to the doorway, certain he is the only adventurer in the party "Glru wants on record that this is wery bad idea."

Glru whomps door with wrench.

DM_Hallu: ((Roll damage.))

Akavi gets Sispirinithas's approval and starts to remove gold from the web.

DM_Hallu: Sispirirnithas watches you closely, but does not object.

Glru: ((strength bonus plus weapon damage =12))

DM_Hallu: You smash about half an inch further into the wall.

DM_Hallu: If you tell me your dice, I'll tell you how long it takes to get all the way through it by whacking over and over again.

Akavi removes 500 gold- no more, no less- and lays the crystal in the web carefully.

DM_Hallu: The next-to-last strike gets you all the way through.

Glru brushes off rockdust and then muscle-poses.

Akavi wonders if Lina will see about that.

Glru suggests "we could trade dead fox for gold..."

DM_Hallu: Sispirirnithas skitters over to the crystal and oohs and aahs over it. "Such a clear image! Such succulent terror! Oh, I will treasure this!"

Akavi bows. "It was a true pleasure, Sispirinithas."

Glru: "and other treasures... then spider can look at picture and remember juicy flesh and crunch bone..."

DM_Hallu: Sispirirnithas smiles at you, or at least what you assume is a smile through the mandibles. "It was pleasure to meet you as well. Perhaps if you come back when I am not feeling so strange, I will eat you, too."

Akavi bows again. "Alas, we meet under such strange circumstances, but such is the life of the adventurer."

DM_Hallu: To recap: Spider has access to the pit now, but nowhere else really.

Akavi: ((Let's get that ladder down, friends.))

Glru trudges back over an hits the ladder release "Glru talks to ladder, hello ladder," then in high, squeaky voice "Hello Glru, do you want to climb?"

DM_Hallu: The ladder releases, along with a large cloud of very stinky dust.

DM_Hallu: On a pedestal in the centre of the room is an enormous gemstone, the size of Glru's fist. It shines brightly, drowning out the everburning torches, with yellow and white light like that of the sun.

Glru does not notice it, he is still wearing his goggles :)

DM_Hallu: Okay. [Flashback Begins!]

Akavi looked exasperated and tucks the stone in her pocket.

Akavi: ((It was a centipede.))

Akavi: "Look, The first thing our House teaches us is to be confident in our own abilities. In doubting yourself, you forced me to expend a valuable spell for the day.�

DM_Hallu: Akavi's pocket glows with the mystical energy of the Sun Stone.

Glru: ahhhh, well if there's a centepede in the room, then Glrou would keep verah in hand...

DM_Hallu: ((Glru, we are in game now, please phrase your comments so they are clearly either speech, actions, or OOC.))

Glru: "Glru is confident in his abilities. Magic is not Glru's abilities, most valuable thing in dungeon is thinly guarded, So Glru asks those whose abilities are magic to look for magic. This does not call for offensive words.�

DM_Hallu: (("kitten" is an offensive word? *eardroops and goes to play with yarn*))

Glru: ((do we still have the bug ?))

DM_Hallu: ((yeah, it's only been a couple rounds.))

Akavi narrows her eyes and looks bemused. "I didn't think you were so... sensitive."

Glru: ((kitten is offensive only when applied to large burly male feline. like calling tobias over there 'little boy'))

Healer_Lina rolls her eyes and subtly spreads her calm.

Glru: ((what's the save on that?))

DM_Hallu: ((21))

Glru: ((will save?))

DM_Hallu: ((yes.))

Healer_Lina: ((Will, yes.)

Healer_Lina: ((Won't stop you arguing, but hopefully help keep things more peaceful))

Akavi waits haughtily, and, feeling intrusion on the fringes of her mind, looks at Lina cooly. ((Will: 21))

Akavi: ((Just made it.))

Glru: ((20.... ooooo, glru is just barely k'smacked by calmness. ))

Healer_Lina: to Akavi: "Just play nice, please?"

Akavi smiles thinly. "Always."

Akavi: ((For future reference, what type of effect is the aura? Generic mind-affecting?))

Healer_Lina: (("Calm Emotions", as the spell.))

Healer_Lina: (("Enchantment (Compulsion) [Mind-Affecting]"))

Akavi: ((Right-o))

Healer_Lina: ((Apologies if any of you feel that's undue interference))

Akavi: ((Ok, this is taking a while, and I don't want to hold up the group.))

Akavi: ((That's fine, Lina. No worries.))

Glru's ear flits, he feels less the need to hit, but still the need to make a point. "Master Grumlar, he says, (switching to dwarvish) 'when yer dungeon crawling, yeh have to work with those people, so when the fuckers mouth off, yeh gives them a chance to take it back before breaking yer knuckles.' (back to common) this means if akavi says he did not say this thing, that Glru says that he did not hear this thing.�

DM_Hallu: ((no, no, lina, this is the reason we had the flashback here in the first place))

Glru: ((yeah, i figured that was going to happen as a convenient way to avoid turning it into a battle))

Akavi spreads her arms, conceding the sense of Glru's words. "Very well, then. Shall we move on." She inclined her head at Anthony. "Spy, remember?"

Glru: ((i was figuring calming aura, or failing that, spidersnack would get one of us to hit him instead... or ika would roll marbles under the feet of those in conflict...))

Ika_Yorri sings softly to herself, "Oh, words can crash like a soldier's drum. / What's said, what's *meant*, and who it's from. / There's an argument down in the pit today. / It's drivel - it's civil, but in the way..."

Glru: "Glru is waiting..."

Akavi turns back to Glru and sighs. "What?"

Anthony_Stieber: "I'm keeping my ears peeled for all of this, you know."

Glru: "for Akavi to say he did not say this thing."

Akavi shoots Anthony a look of withering dislike.

Anthony_Stieber: "Needless to say this simply reinforces the reason I was here."

Akavi: "Glru, we both know I did say it. Whether I meant it is a separate question, or whether I realized the effect it would have on you... I refuse, however, to indulge in games of semantics."

Glru: ((beat the fox... you know you want to :D))

Akavi: "I will concede that it was not intended to be as harsh as it was received."

Glru waffles a hand side to side "then you can say instead 'I take these words back.', yes?"

Akavi: "When I've recovered the spell I used, I will recover my words."

Akavi narrows her eyes and, with an angry grimace, says, "Very well. In the interest of expeditiousness and doing the job we are being paid to do, I beg forgiveness for my trespasses against your honor, or vanity, or whatever you care to recognize it as."

Healer_Lina: *sighs* "Men....."

DM_Hallu: ((butbut akavi's a girl now.))

Akavi: ((Anthony must be very confused))

Healer_Lina: ((Ah, sorry Akavi, missed that. :P))

Healer_Lina: ((*rewinds comment* ^^))

Akavi: ((It's fine. :)))

Glru 's ear crooks at the dripping insincerity, "Glru will take the meat of the words over the sauce they are floating in. Matter is done." he spits into his palm and holds it out to Akavi.

Ika_Yorri: ((*sighs* "Monstrousities..." :D))

Akavi: �Good,� Akavi says, shaking his paw and losing interest. She reaches into her bag and extracts the Elixer of Truth, turning to Anthony. �Now...�

Akavi: ((AAAND scene.))
