Only For You I Don't Regret

Chapter 02:

People scrambled to get out of the path the three men were walking.  Those that were unfortunate not to be quick enough were shoved into tables knocking them over.  The man in the lead of the pack was a huge towering man.  The expensive suit that he wore did little to hide the massive muscle tone of his form.  A plain ordinary black eyepatch  covered the right side of his face.

The man that walked to his right side appeared to be a tall slender Spaniard. His long braided ponytail hung over the left side of his tailored suit.  The man had an arrogant look upon his face as if all were beneath him.  The Third man of the trio was a well-muscled African-American man, who wore an identical suit that matched his comrades.  He took extreme pleasure pushing aside the onlookers.

The trio finally came to a stop at the table Ryu and Ken were seated at.  Everyone at the table looked up at the men that were glaring towards them except for one, continued silently eating.

"So, this is the so called Grand Champion?" Bison said poking at Ryu's shoulders.  The Wanderer still paid no heed to the men.  "This is the man that stole away my title and stripped me of my honor." The large man said in an icy tone.  "That's hardly the case Sagat! You did not have any honor to be stripped away in the first place.  Your nothing more than a two bit crook now." Ken replied sticking up for the silent Ryu.

Chun li listened intently to the shouting match between the men. An unsettling feeling creep over her as she felt the silent Spaniard glaring at her.

"Shut your mouth pretty-boy." Bison retorted. "What's a matter, you have to have this punk answer for you? Look at me when I am addressing you!" He yelled.

Ryu slowly stood to his feet. "Thank you for your company ladies." He said bowing slightly. "I am sorry that your meal has been interrupted on my account."  He turned to face the trio of glaring men.  Bison withered a little from the cold emotionless stare that the warrior gave them.  "Sagat at one time was a mighty warrior worthy of everyone's respect."

"But, he was seduced by the glory and fame that his title had brought him.  He became arrogant and cruel, thinking himself undefeatable.  And when the day came that he lost his title, vengeance became his sole driving goal."

Chun li cringed a little as if the words were being directed at her.  'This man knew nothing of what she had gone through all those lonely years. To have the only family you knew, ripped from your grasps without have a chance to defend it.' She thought to herself.

"I did not bring this dishonor upon you, Sagat." Ryu continued, "You brought it upon yourself. If you came here looking to start a fight with me in this hall, I can not accept it.  We are both honor bound to the warriors code of the tournament not to fight outside the ring."

Ryu turned and walked towards an exit from the silent room.  All everyone could do was watch the man walk away.  Bison started to make a move to chase after him, but was halted by the large one-eyed giant.  "We will meet in arena once again Wanderer!" he called out to him.

The three men left through an opposite doorway.  People started to chat loudly once again.  Most talked about what had just transpired here.

"So, Luv." Cammy began. "Your silent friend there is THE Grand Champion?"  "At least for the moment he is, Until I get my rematch with him." Ken said with a chuckle. "I've heard lots of rumors about your friend. He does not seem as intimidating as they say he is." Cammy replied.

"Just wait til you see him in the arena, that's all I am going to say." Ken smiled sipping his water.  "Soo, what do you make of all of this Chun li?" Cammy asked. Both looked to see that the Chinese woman had already left the table without a word. "Hmm, wonder what is up with her?" Cammy thought out loud.  "So, is your friend single?" Ken burst out laughing. "If you only knew." He choked out laughing hard.

Meanwhile in the video monitoring room for the estate grounds.

"Yes sir!" A security guard spoke into a phone.  I will send up all the relevant information on the fighters at that table.  Understood Sir!"  The man hung up the phone and started to access the fighter's data banks.

Chun li was punching the sparring bag furiously.  The gymnasium was completely empty except for herself.  'That man knows nothing of my right to vengeance.' She thought to herself as sweat covered her forehead

It was that fueling fire that got her promoted to the top of her graduating class in law enforcement.  It was that drive that had brought down numerous underworld operations.  Sure, she did not have any social life what so ever, and only a handful of friends who she could trust.

But she did not have time for that. Her father was dead, and his murderer ran free all of these years.  She would make him pay for what he had done to her family and undoubtedly numerous other families.  If this was what the path of vengeance offered, she gladly accepted it.

When she finally fell to her knees from the exhausting workout, she wiped her forehead with her towel.  Her eyes were red and swollen. "Dammit!" she cursed herself for crying. She made a quick look around the empty room to be sure she was alone.

She sobbed lightly into the towel for awhile before drying her face.  Chun li swore no one would ever see her cry.  'Crying is for the weak and fearful.'  She thought to herself.  "And I am neither!" she reassured herself as she gathered her bag and walked out of the gym.
