Colwyn leads the way. He's so close to rescuing his beloved that he can hardly stand it.
The firemares run so fast they can fly, streaking through the air as they make their way towards the Black Fortress.
To enter the Fortress, Colwyn and the others must climb to an entrance and quickly as it is almost sunrise again.
The Slayers will not allow intruders into the Fortress without a fight. Using their energy staffs, they fire down at the heroes, keeping them pinned down behind the rocks.
Ignoring tradition, Rhell has made the journey after all. He climbs up the rock face, shrugging off blast after blast, to provide Colwyn and the others a way up.
When the doors to the Fortress begin to close, Rhell uses his great strength to hold them open to let the others pass.
Torquil tries to use his axe to keep the door open long enough for Rhell to escape but it's too late, the Cyclops dies helping his friends.
Our heroes made it inside just in time, the twin suns of Krull rise and the Fortress moves once more.
Inside the Fortress, a continued attack by the Slayers finally fells Kegan. Saddened by their loss, but unable to turn back even if they wanted to, the heroes press on.
The Black Fortress is teeming with Slayers, Colwyn and the others must be careful as they make their way through the endless corridors.
