| Lila Davanota was born Lily Nightshade. She was born on the isle of Jafre and grew up in the presence of darkness. For most of her life she knew that she did not belong. She felt nothing for the ideals preached by the Carpe' Nacht. With this knowledge she began to search for her place in the world. Lila eventually came across the Knights of Dawn. Their methods and ideals struck something deep inside her. There was one problem: her nationality. The |
| knights were not fond of anyone from Jafre and would not accept them, or if they did they would not promote her due to it. A deep-seated bias exists among the Knights of Dawn towards Jafreans or those of Jafrean descent because of their enemies the Knights of Lunar and the Carpe' Nacht who originated from and are based there. She was not fond of the Carpe' Nacht, but had never before thought of them as evil. This, however, did not stop her from adopting their view. So, Lily created a new identity, Lila Davanota who was from the country of Balamoore, and presented herself to the Knights of Dawn. Lila was readily accepted into their ranks. She trained hard and moved up the ranks quickly. She possessed the skills of a natural-born leader. She excelled at swordsmanship and battle tactics. Her skills would not go unnoticed. After about ten years serving first in the Order of Light and then the Order of the Sun, she was about to be promoted to a seat on the Sun's council. Before she could do so, Lila was approached by a recruiter from the Paladins of Dawn. She jumped at the chance. It was here that her leadership skills both in and out of combat truly shined. Lila Davanota quickly earned the respect of her peers and superiors by completing her missions with ruthless efficiency. With each success, she brought herself closer to the higher ranks of the paladins. By her thirty-second year of life she was appointed as the head of the Paladins of Dawn. Shortly after attaining this seat, something threatened her life as Lila Davanota. She learned that the head of the Paladins of Lunar was one Aurthor Nightshade, her older brother. They had not seen each other for almost twenty years and she figured that he would not recognize her if they met. She even believed that her new name would not cause him to make the connection. That belief was dashed to pieces by a message that came to her via the Knights of Sun. A raven which landed on the window ledge of a local garrison commander had it attached to it's leg. It was sealed and the instructions on the outside read only that it was to be delivered directly to the handa of the head of the Paladins of Dawn and noone else. It read as follows: Lord Lila Davanota of the Paladins of Dawn, Congratulations on your ascent. I look forward to the day that I will be honored by your presence on the battlefield. Yours respectfully, Sir Aurthor Nightshade, Lord of the Paladins of Lunar P.S. - I am proud of you my dear Lily (the last was written in Jafrian) |
