Neil MacCurtain (Roy Poole) MacCURTAIN, Neil

Neil MacCurtain, husband of Una MacCurtain and father of Charlotte Greer, came to Riverside to get revenge on Maeve Colleary Ryan and her family. Many years before, he had been turned down by the Collearys when he asked to become Maeve's suitor. This turn of events had led to his brother's death in a political uprising in Ireland. Rae Woodard asked for Charlotte's services to ruin Frank Ryan's congressional campaign, so Neil took the opportunity to finally get his revenge on Maeve's family. When Rae got in the way after Frank's campaign was ruined, Neil stabbed her, causing her to nearly die. Neil and Una lured Frank and Maeve to a deserted dock in New York, where they planned to kill Maeve. However, when he finally saw Maeve, Neil had a heart attack and died.

Una MacCurtain, wife of Neil MacCurtain and mother of Charlotte Greer, came to Riverside to aid her husband�s plan to ruin the Colleary-Ryan family. She helped him lure Maeve Colleary Ryan and her son, Frank, to a deserted dock; when her husband suddenly died of a heart attack after seeing Maeve, Una, in a moment of insanity, grabbed his gun and tried to shoot Maeve. Instead, she shot Frank, nearly killing him.

Kevin MacGuinness (Malachy McCourt) MacGUINNESS, Kevin
Portrayer: Malachy McCourt (1975-1984, 1989)
Irishman Kevin MacGuinness was the bartender at Ryan's. He was one of the Ryans closest friends; he also became good friends with many of the regulars who came into the bar. Eventually, he became one of the toughest critics of Delia Reid Ryan Coleridge, whom he considered an annoying twit. Although he stopped working at Ryan's in 1984, he returned in January 1989 to be at the wedding of Jack Fenelli and Leigh Kirkland, which was also the show's final episode.

Jumbo Marino worked on the docks of New York for many years and was well-known for his temper. Above all else, he was a father figure to orphan Jack Fenelli, who he met while working on the docks. Jack became like as on to Jumbo, and they kept in close contact with one another after Jack left the docks to become a reporter. Whenever Jack had a problem he needed to discuss with him, he could be sure to find Jumbo at the Genaro Social Club.

Widower Alex McLean was a doctor and an old army buddy of Jack Fenelli's. In September 1976, he joined the staff of Riverside Hospital and renewed his friendship with Jack and met Jack's wife, Mary Ryan Fenelli. Soon afterwards, Jack was in a nearly fatal car crash. Alex operated on Jack, but the surgery left Jack impotent. While Jack was in the hospital, Alex's relationship with Mary evolved. Although nothing was going on, Jack became insecure about his impotency and believed that Alex and Mary were having an affair. Despite Alex's pleas for friendship, their friendship remained strained. Alex was written out with no explanation in February 1977, with his last appearance being at Pat Ryan and Faith Coleridge's engagement party.

Father McShane was the man who the Ryans (especially Delia) often turned to when they were having problems. He was the minister at many weddings on the show, including Mary Ryan and Jack Fenelli's (1976 & 1977), Siobhan Ryan and Joe Novak's (1979), and Jack Fenelli and Leigh Kirkland's (1989). He also christened Ryan Fenelli.
MELINA, Rose Pearse

Rose Pearse Melina worked for a detective agency, where she met reporter Jack Fenelli. They began to get involved with each other, and their relationship grew immensely with time. Unfortunately, Rose had to leave Riverside due to the connection her little daughter, Amelia, had with Alexei Vartova, an infamous mobster.
Fenno Moore (Casey Biggs) MOORE, Fenno

Fenno Moore was a federal agent who helped Joe Novak and Siobhan Ryan Novak bring down mobster Max Dubujack. When his superiors at the bureau attempted to reassign him, he chose to quit the agency. He asked Siobhan to start a private practice with him after Joe died. In the final episode of the show, she accepted his offer.
MORRIS, Amy

Former mental patient Amy Morris was hired by Jack Fenelli (who didn't know about her mental illnesses) to be the nanny for his daughter, Ryan Fenelli. Amy soon began to obsess over Ryan. When Jack and Maeve Ryan both noticed Amy's great affection for Ryan, they thought it would be best to find a new nanny. However, Amy did not take the news well and kidnapped the little girl. Amy and Ryan hid in the basement of Delia's Crystal Palace, but they were eventually discovered by Maeve. Amy took Maeve captive, but while Amy was busy, Maeve was able to get Ryan to get out of the basement. Amy then became infuriated with Maeve, and when Jack came down to the basement after finding Ryan, she threatened to kill Maeve. Jack convinced Amy to let Maeve live, and Amy was sent away for treatment.
Clem Moultrie (Hannibal Penney, Jr.) MOULTRIE, Clem

Dr. Clem Moultrie was one of the doctors in neurology at Riverside Hospital. He grew up in bad conditions; however, Dr. Ed Coleridge let him live in his home and helped him become a very good doctor. In 1977, he was one of the leaders of the doctors strike at the hospital. He left Riverside in May 1978 to live in Tucson, Arizona.
