Bucky Carter (Justin Deas)CARTER, Buckminister 'Bucky'
Portrayer: Justin Deas (1975-1978)
A doctor with a heart of gold, Bucky is also the heir to a very large sum of money -- $30,000,000 -- because his grandfather owns a chain of shoe stores. Bucky pursued the affections of fellow doctor Faith Coleridge, but their relationship led nowhere. He also had to deal with the death of his beloved aunt Nell, and the trial of his uncle, Seneca, who was charged with killing Nell by taking her off life support. On top of all this, a woman named Reenie Szabo was pursuing his affections in order to get his money. After Reenie suddenly left, Bucky did not have much to do in Riverside. He became Seneca's confidant and one of Delia Ryan's biggest detractors. At one point, he also pursued hospital aide Alicia Nieves, but he was promptly struck down. He left New York in July 1978.
Family: Diana Carter (mother), Henry Carter (father), Nell Beaulac (aunt), Henry Carter Sr. (grandfather)
Kenneth Castle (Ty McConnell)CASTLE, Kenneth
Portrayer: Ty McConnell (1975-1976)
Unstable Kenneth Castle was Nell Beaulac's psychotic lab assistant. Although he appeared to be relatively normal (though he was a bit shy) at first, he soon began to stalk Faith Coleridge. He snuck into her room several times and made a room for 'her' in the abandoned basement of Riverside Hospital. He eventually kidnapped her and forced her to live there. Faith stayed in the room for a very long time and almost died. Kenneth went on the run after Faith's former flame, Pat Ryan, saved her. He continued to stalk Faith -- this time for "being a bad girl." One night, he snuck into her house and pushed her father from the house's roof, killing him. After falling off the house himself, he was committed to an insane asylum. By that time, he was completely insane and thought that Faith was his mother.
CHURCH, Claudius
Portrayer: Charles Cioffi (1980)
Claudius Church was a brash lawyer who Roger Coleridge suggested to his sister, Jillian, during the Ken George Jones murder ordeal.
COHEN, Adam
Portrayer: Stanley Birnbaum aka Sam Behrens (1979-1980)
Adam Cohen was a resident doctor in the neurology department of Riverside Hospital. At one point, Delia Reid Ryan Coleridge tried to pair him up with Nancy Feldman. Later on, Kimberly Harris used him during her attempts to win over Seneca Beaulac. In 1980, Adam departed to be part of a special program which involved hypnosis, which he had used on Delia after her fall from a tower caused by an escaped gorilla.
Edmund Coleridge (Frank Latimore)COLERIDGE, Edmund
Portrayer: Frank Latimore (1975-1976)
Edmund Coleridge was the head of a 'dynasty' of doctors at Riverside Hospital, where he, along with his children, worked. He was a very kind man, although sometimes distant from his children, and he was best friends with Johnny Ryan. His eyes were originally set for the position of head of neurology; however, Seneca Beaulac took it from him. He sometimes had to deal with the complicated lives of his children, including the fact that his daughter Faith was being stalked by a psychotic lab assistant. One night, while protecting Faith from her stalker, he was pushed to his death from the roof of the Coleridge residence. A few years after his death, it was revealed that his adopted daughter (Jillian) was, in fact, the result of an affair he had with Bess Shelby while he was married to his (equally distant) wife, Judith.

Edmund Strong Coleridge (Buddy Schultz)COLERIDGE, Edmund Strong
Portrayer: Buddy Schultz (1977-1979)
Edmund was born prematurely to Jillian Coleridge and Seneca Beaulac -- the product of a one night stand they had together. Although at first he had to deal with several medical conditions, he survived them. However, soon afterwards, Seneca found out that he wasn't Edmund's father -- Frank Ryan was his father! Seneca continued to treat Edmund as his own. Sadly, in January 1979, Edmund was killed in an explosion at the Coleridge beach house.

Portrayers: Faith Catlin (1975-1976); Nancy Barrett (1976); Catherine Hicks (1976-1978); Karen Morris-Gowdy (1978-1983, 1989)
Faith was the youngest of the two children Edmund and Judith Coleridge had. As she grew up, she was very close with her father. Like him, she eventually became a doctor in the field of neurology. During her first year as a doctor, she dated Bucky Carter, but she was never really able to 'connect' with him. However, she soon became involved with Pat Ryan. Unfortunately, at the same time, a young man named Kenneth Castle began stalking her. During all of this, Pat dumped her because she was being too "clingy." After this happened, Kenneth kidnapped her and held her captive under the hospital. When she was finally rescued, she was barely alive and temporarily blind. While she was recovering, Kenneth tried to kill her for being 'bad.' Instead, he killed her father. Faith couldn't stand it anymore -- she had a nervous breakdown and was taken to away to recover at a clinic/sanitarium. Three months later, a new, improved Faith returned to Riverside. She once again became involved with Pat Ryan and switched from being a neurologist to a pediatrician. Pat and Faith were engaged in February 1977, but the engagement sadly ended when Pat had to marry Delia because he had gotten her pregnant. Faith continued to love him, but she had to deal with being 'just friends' with him. She soon found a husband in the form of Tom Desmond. In 1978, she married him in order for him to get a green card, and she soon fell in love with him. Unfortunately, he tried to kill her due to a brain tumor. Soon afterwards, Tom died in 1979 after hitting his head. Faith was devastated and became an alcoholic. She eventually recovered, and, at the same time, she found love with her sister (Jill)'s former lover, Frank Ryan. The two were engaged. Unfortunately, shortly before their wedding, Frank called it off -- he still loved Jill! Faith was very upset, and it took years for her to forgive Jill. In 1981, she met Egyptologist Aristotle Benedict-White and became involved in his search for the mortuary shrine of Meritkara. In 1983, she once again became involved with Pat Ryan. The two were happy together, but Faith left Riverside at the end of the year after getting a job offer from the Mayo Clinic. In 1989, she returned for Jack and Leigh's wedding -- with a daughter, Grace, in tow! In the final episode, it appeared that Faith had left Riverside in 1983 to give birth to Pat Ryans child!

Jillian Coleridge (Nancy Addison Altman)COLERIDGE BEAULAC RYAN, Jillian
Portrayer: Nancy Addison Altman (1975-1988, 1989)
Successful in law but not always as successful in love, lawyer Jillian Coleridge was the result of an affair between Edmund Coleridge and Bess Shelby. She was adopted by Ed, who never told her the truth of her parentage, and his wife, Judith. She grew up to become a lawyer for Riverside Hospital and dated reporter Jack Fenelli for awhile. While teaching at a law school, she fell in love with one of her students, Frank Ryan (who was married to Delia Reid), and began an affair with him that lasted four years. Delia eventually found out, so Jill decided to leave Frank for his sake. During his absence, she became temporarily involved with Seneca Beaulac. In the meantime, Frank left Delia and hooked up with Jill once again. They planned on getting married, but Jill found out she was pregnant -- with Seneca's child! After she told Frank, she began to become closer to Seneca once again. After she gave birth to the baby (named Edmund -- in memory of her father who had died), he discovered Edmund was really Frank's baby but did not tell Jill. Seneca and Jill eventually married. Unfortunately, Edmund was killed in an explosion at the Coleridge beach house. Seneca and Jill eventually split up. Meanwhile, she started having feels for Frank again, which split up his engagement to her sister, Faith. Faith was distraught and was furious with Jill for years to come. Later on, in 1982, Maeve Ryan, who thought she was dying, told Jill about her father's secret -- she was his illegitimate daughter! 1983 also proved to be an exciting year for her, as she became acquainted with her mother, Bess Shelby, and her half-sister, Maggie Shelby. Jill also had a failed political campaign during the year, and she married Frank while he was on his deathbed. Fortunately, he survived. However, their marriage was very rocky. In 1985, she developed amnesia while searching for Frank's half-brother, Dakota Smith, and began to have feelings for Dakota. She was forced to pick between the two. Also around this time, she and Frank had a baby, who was named Mary Ryan in honor of Frank's departed sister. In January 1988, Jillian left New York to go to Australia to visit her mother, who had moved there in 1987. She returned in 1989 for the wedding of Jack Fenelli and Leigh Kirkland.

Roger was the son of Edmund and Judith Coleridge. As a child, Roger was never close with his sisters (Jill and Faith), but he was very close to his mother and was very distraught when she died in 1964. Like his father, he chose to become a neurologist. He was often considered one of the best surgeons at Riverside Hospital. However, Roger had a secret -- he was involved in illegal gambling. After his father told the head of neurology, Seneca Beaulac, this, Seneca decided not to renew Roger's contract. Meanwhile, he began having a relationship with the very married Delia Ryan. When her husband, Frank, found out, he divorced her. Roger was hoping that he could marry Delia, but Delia turned her eyes to her former brother-in-law, Pat, and married him. Soon afterwards, Roger got his job back at the hospital by blackmailing Seneca -- he threatened to tell people that Jillian Coleridge's father was Frank, not Seneca. At the same time, he began an affair with Rae Woodard, but their relationship also eventually fizzled. After Delia's marriage to Pat ended, she turned her sights back on Roger. The two were married. Unfortunately, their marriage was very stormy and ended in divorce in 1980. In 1981, he met Elizabeth Jane Ryan. The two soon hit it off, and Roger proposed to her. Unfortunately, the wedding never came about -- he discovered she was married! When Jill's half-sister, Maggie, came to town, Roger began to have a strange infatuation with her. He began stalking her. Once he overcame his obsession, Maggie and Roger genuinely fell in love and were married. Shortly after they were married, Delia returned to town after a two-year absence. She decided she wanted Roger back, although Roger made it clear he loved Maggie. Around this time, Maggie gave birth to their daughter -- Olivia. Sadly, things did not work out for Roger and Maggie, and they separated. Delia and Roger then rekindled their romance. During the last week of the show, the two were married once again.
