What's Going On
This past semester was a busy one. I ended up spending everyday at the school working on my empirical work and other various papers that needed to be created. Still I found time to spend with my family, even though sometimes it was when mommy and the girls brought me a snack while I was working in a lab. Luckily, it seems that all that hard work is paying off with A's. Now we are getting all setup for Christmas. The tree is up with a few gifts around it, and of course my tacky blinking lights that drive Jessie crazy; however the girls seem to like them. We have made many comittments for ourselves over these holidays, so we will be busy but doing stuff we like. We will be going to family dinners and we also will be getting ready for our very first Christmas dinner as a family. After a long dry spell of having no interviews, I obtained 4 interviews in a week and was given three job offers. I decided that the job itself is more important then the money that they offer. So I took a pay cut and am now a Marketing Analyst for the next term at the Schlegel Center at WLU. It doesn't seem like too much marketing but more of a communications job with a project to analyze a survey, possibly using regression techniques. I figure this position will give me enough time to also take the Canadian Securities Course as well. I want to get that before my final work term and now seems good to me.

Update: March 1, 2004 I am well settled into my job now. I have my routines down, and have started the survey analysis. A lot of the work is just to code the surveys so they can be analyzed. I have enroled into the Canadian Securities Course and will book my first exam in that this week. Seems to be a lot of information that I have learned before, which makes this course a little easier for me. After all that hard work last semester I ended up with a 10 (A-) GPA. This makes me feel better but it will prove to be difficult to actually keep this average for the rest of school career. So far in the last couple of months, I have learned that knowing a lot in Access, Excel, and Word are important. I have been able to improve my knowledge in Word, as to email merges. I have also been working on my knowledge of Frontpage. Visit www.jessieryanfamily.netfirms.com to see my work on this. I am having some fun with that website, and am able to share some of my knowledge with others.
Update: February 18, 2005 Been a long while since I last updated this. I finished my term as an allocation analyst at Winners Merchants Incorporated. It was a very interesting job, because I was able to continue to develop my analysis skills and realize I can benefit a lot of firms with the quantitative processes I know. I have started my 4th year now and it seems to be progressing well. I have taken a few harder classes but at least they are interesting. I'm still thinking about what to do for my thesis, I want to do research into company valuation or into financial market irregularities(ie. market volatitity). I'm sure when I know exactly what I am doing for my thesis I will post it here, possibly in it's own page because I will be excited about it.
