Reader's Cars
It all started with this... my first cars, 2 RX7 Series 1's, bought for a reasonable $1300AU. The white car had no complience plates, so it was there to donate extra parts to the black and red car. At first looks it obviously needs a respray, but luckily the panels were in good shape.

The interior was not in good shape all though the previous owner had retrimmed the doors (very plain and boring i think). Lots of wires were hanging out everywhere aswells as loose nuts n bolts and screws. So the interior was stripped, even the dash and roof vinyl.

The best part of the 2 cars was the 13B engine which is from a RX4 and the RX7 Series 3 5 speed box. The engine had been Extend Ported so it has the rough idle and beautiful rotary sound. Not sure what kind of condition the engine was in the plan was run it until it goes instead of replacing it or getting it rebuilt. That was 8 months ago and it still runs fine now. It had the original 4-barrel carbie and a rusty 2 and a half inch exhaust and 3 inch tip. Also a bonus was the heavy duty clutch rated at 1 tonne.
The interior was stripped including the dash board (a little later on).
The next step was the body work. with the two cars we were able to make one car of mix matched panels. They were all sanded back and filled in the appropiate places, then the primer was coated on.
The engine bay was sprayed first and even with the untidy engine it was looking good. For the engine bay 2-pak paint was used.
For the outside it was sprayed with lots of thin coats of the white base colour, then coats of a blue pearl which reflects out blue in sunlight, then the clear coats. The pics were taken just after the paint had finished drying. Unfortunatly the pearl doesn't show up very well in photo's which is a pain because people dont believe it.
These photo's are of the car with the 15" 2-piece mags that i picked up for $200 with 2 sets of useable tyres. In the pictures they look really wide and unfortunatly failed rego because they stick out too far! It's because they are deep dished. No dashboard in the photo's either.
