The Story behind R.W.M.

Grace and Peace
The Pastor and founder of Reconciliation Word Ministry is God leading Pastor Joseph Hewitt. Pastor Joseph was born in the heart of Seoul, Korea. Sheltered in an orphanage until God moved on the heart of a Detroit couple, he arrived in America at the age of three, speaking only his native Asian tongue. Over the course of his life he was "Americanized", educated, and thrust into the professional world of General Motors after graduating on the Dean's list of Wayne State University's college of Engineering Mechanical engineering was not, however, the only thing he learned from this higher institute. It was also during college that he received the powerful witness of Jesus Christ, learned a "new tongue" once again, and thus he became a driven recruiter for Christ.

Lady Portia was one of the first converts who was drawn by the empowered influences of the Holy Ghost through Joseph's testimony. A fellow college student, Portia also took the reigns of salvation, and the powerful example of being a "diligent seeker" of the Word and grace of God. In corporate America, Joseph at General Motors for 9 years; and Portia at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan for 19 1/2 years. During their spiritual and professional tenure, it was working in the field of souls that brought the two closer together and they were married in 1985, adding two "soldiers" to the Kingdom: Jared and Rachel in 1986 and 1988 respectively.

After serving in numerous offices and capacities for over 17 years, the Lord called the couple to pastoral leadership in 1993, beginning the path of Intercessions Word Ministry in January 1994. Today, however, the Lord has re-mixed the vision according to 2 Corinthians 12:18-19 which clearly defines the purpose of the believer: "To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself...and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation." We are ambassadors, reconciling the world to Jesus! Thus Intercessions Word Ministry was reintroduced as Reconciliation Word Ministry, on January 1, 2007.

At R.W.M. we believe in biblical teaching strictly from the King James Holy Bible and we believe in being sanctified rightly dividing the Word of truth.
