Cornelius "Corry" E. Copelan

My great grand uncle.

Born: 30 March 1860, Georgia. 1
Parents: JASPER NEWTON COPELAN* AND MARY ELIZABETH FURLOW*
Married: about 1880. 2
Death: 6 Sep. 1909. 1
Burial: Greensboro City Cemetery, Greensboro, GA. 1

Notes:
Listed as a farmer living with his wife and daughter in the household of his mother Mary in the 1880 Federal Census, District 143, Greene, GA (indexed Corrie W. Copelan); Mary lists a grandchild, Eugenia, age 6, but this cannot be a child of Corry's since he and Mary Alice were just married.

Listed as a farmer in the 1900 Federal Census, Greensboro, Greene, GA (indexed C. Copelan); indicates eight children born, eight surviving.

Wife Mary listed as a widow in the 1910 Federal Census, Greensboro, Greene, GA (indexed Mary A. Copelan); indicates ten children born, nine surviving.  Descendants indicate that Mary Alice Culbreath's mother, Sara Frazier Culbreath, was a full-blooded Cherokee Indian.

Mary listed in the 1920 Federal Census, Greshamville, Greene, GA with daughter and son-in-law Ollie and Johnnie Lee Veal, and sons Gaillard and Rossman Copelan.

Mary listed in the household of son Rossman and his wife Eunice in the 1930 Federal Census, Greshamville, Greene, GA (indexed as Rosman Copeland, farm laborer).
