Pictures were taken 10/01 at
the National Seashore on Fire Island located at Smith Point
The temperature was about 68
F,
The beach was empty because of the sand blowing
around.
The ocean was calm, the bay was covered with
white caps.
This picture is on top of the stairs
leading down to the beach. There has been bad erosion on the beach
from the winter storms. Much of the beach has been lost.
This picture is looking across the
width of Fire Island. The first picture I took looking south, and
this picture is taken from the same spot looking north.
I just thought this sand dune had an
interesting design with the grass and plants. On the other
side of this dune is the ocean.
