| Salaam Alaykum and welcome to The Educated Sister, InshaAllah |
|||||||||||
| Hi and thanks for stopping by. :) I wanted to first tell you that I'm not the educated sister haha, but by doing this program I hope to educate all sisters, inshaAllah, especially the reverts like myself, and those whose families are not Muslims and have zero to two Muslim friends in their town.
After all it is our God given right to become educated :) What prompted this whole idea of audio and an interactive page was that I tried looking for podcasts on itunes, but none were by females and they had plenty by men for men or by men for women and men, but where were the sisters at? So hence, the idea of this program was brought about. ABOUT ME: I recently reverted to Islam back in December 2006, but loved Islam even before I truely accepted it (3 years ago). To make a long story short and spare you from listening to my 10 min audio clip, I basically received dreams from Allah (swt) and during Eid decided to embark on this wonderful path called Islam and to finally become Muslim. It's been wonderful and I'm happier than ever, I mean why wouldn't I be? I have great brothers and sisters and it was a very easy transition since I had already established a relationship with them before I reverted and like I expected, they were so welcoming, Alhamdulillah :) However, it's not a bed of roses, I'm having issues with my mother, but inshaAllah, she will understand and open her heart and I hope than many other people would do the same, especially those in the US. Anyhowwww, I would like to have on the shows things FOR THE SISTERS with informative links, paragraphs from interesting books that I will read from, copies of the readings as email attachments, topics of the week, how-to-pages or even videos on putting on a hijab, foods you buy at the store with the letters K, U, D, P, making cool coilless hijab pins, recipes of the week and anything else you would want to learn about. You will have to excuse my way of saying things in the recordings and I'm learning the Arabic words slowly. :) Also, if you are offended by the voice of a female reading Islamic related materials then please do not click the audio clips, my intentions are with pure thoughts. Also, if you would like shoot me a thought email me at [email protected] and I will be more than happy to reply asap. Also, I would absolutely LOVE for you to send in your ideas for future shows. Thanks a lot and take care! Allah Hafiz. :-) the BLOG spot by Ruy'a Ahlam :-D (03/28/2007) I'm so sorry about the haitus, I recently just got hired as a preschool teacher and inshaAllah that it will be great! I've also been busying brainstorming some ideas on how to make this site more popular. I would really like for some ya'll to submit some halal recipes and informative links. There is no deadline, I will post them as they come in through my email. Anyhow, I am going to try to sell some of the coilless hijab pins I've been making so if you're interest, email me, they will be very colourful but let me know what your perferred colours are and will come in a nice case. And a huge accouncement that I wanted to share was the CONTEST! The concept is below and the prize is a suprise from Bath & Body works. The proposed contest is to submit by via email a hijab design that you would like the see on yourself or other sisters. What gave me this idea was that I spoke to a sister who had a cool leather eyelet design and then I began to think of like lines of mesh for more air movement especially since summer is around the corner. A scanned drawing of it, material proposed, colour, etc would be nice and then we can hold an online poll of who the winner would be :) Deadline is May 15, 2007. Good luck and start your ideas! No limit on entries per person. |
