| In this time of turmoil, I invite you to my Refuge of Peace in the hope that you will find within my paintings a reminder of a quieter, more gentle world that reawakens within you a sense of calm and a sense that God will protect and care for you. I paint a variety of subjects using transparent watercolors in an expressive style that reflect a spirtuality that I find in all creation mirroring compassion for all -- whether it be in the eyes of a child, the weak and infirm, or the poor and the empty-handed. All were created as a form of meditation and prayer. I am drawn especially to the sea -- the movement and rhythm of the waves, the interplay of color -- constantly changing -- at times tranquil and at other times majestically powerful -- like the very heartbeat and breath of God. I studied art at the University of Iowa and in museums in Paris, Amsterdam, Provence, and in Australia. I taught painting and drawing for several years before moving to Florida and have exhibited in Iowa, Missouri and Florida. I have been the winner of several awards in juried art shows. My paintings hang in private collections in eight states. |
