Queries 1. Perea and Paora were brothers 2. By the above chart Te Koropiko and Roka Raparapa were brother and sister 3. That means Perea and Paora should be Te Korohiko's 4. But the Roka Raparapa's Paora was a Hapi 5. Unless Paora Hapi's wife Roka and Roka Raparapa were one and the same. 6. I knew Paora and Perea Reupena (Reupene) well. Paora Hapi lived in Nuhaka and Perea Reupena in Mahia.

Riki's summary: It seems that Roka and Roka Raparapa are the same person. Since Roka Raparapa's son is Paora Hapi , who married, lived and buried in Nuhaka Since Perea Reupena's father was Reupena Te Apaiwaho and but his mother was Makere Raparapa the daughter of Roka Raparapa, the geneological challenge become's greater.

My Summary (Jim Ruru): I gather Riki Smith, by his queries, is questioning the accuracy of chart No 1. The chart doesn't suggest anything out of the ordinary. What it shows is that a brother and sister named a child each after the same person. It doesn't suggest that Paora Hapi's wife Roka and Roka Raparapa are the same person. It doesn't suggest that Te Korohiko's Paora Hapi and Roka Raparapa's Paora Hapi are father and son. It does suggest that they are !st Cousins. However! Riki Smth knew them, lived among them, so I tend to pay close attention to what he has to say. Initially I thought he suggested that Paora and Perea were brothers but after carefully reading his statements, not once does he suggest that he knew them as brothers. In fact what he does suggest is that they had different parents. According to Riki, Makere (Mahere) Raparapa is Roka Raparapa's daughter and the mother of Perea Reupena. Well we know 2 woman can't have the one baby, so how wrong would it be to suggest that Roka Raparapa raised her daughters child (Perea) as her own, as many Maori family do, therefore causing the assumption that Paora Hapi and Perea Reupena were brothers. As far as Paora Hapi's Roka and Roka Raparapa being the same person, I wouldn't know what to suggest here. Much more research is required to determine that fact. This Paora Hapi Identity is interesting to me because Riki Smth is my father in law. So with Paora being in my wife's pedigree line, Paora is also in mine through my Grand Mother as she was a Hapi also. However the Paora Hapi in my pedigree line is about 5 generations before my father in laws but in his records and mine they show the same father. So Paora must have been pretty old when my father in law knew him.
