THE RPL URGENTLY NEEDS YOUR HELP
The battle to stop this insane highway will almost certainly go to Albany and Washington, D.C. Put a "No Expressway" sign in your front yard and let the DOT and our elected officials know they have a battle on their hands. If you don't already have a sign, e-mail [email protected].
Excerpt from NYSDOT Email Sent to Chuck Davenport (RPL Founding Member and Study Advisory Committee Member).

At the present, we have two projects in the works to address the Peoria Curve location, a short term interim project and a longer term project.  The short term project has been designed and we anticipate a project will be delivered this upcoming construction season.  The work will include improving the banking on the curve, placing ice retardant pavement and installing an overhead sign.  The longer term project is currently being scoped and designed.  The recommended work will include reconstruction of Route 63 with new alignment of the road to improve the curve radius, sight distance and the grade.  The new alignment would likely be north of the existing roadway and north of the existing residences.  The intersection of Peoria Road would be reconstructed at a right angle to Route 63.  Final alignment and related work will be determined as the design effort progresses.  We anticipate this project will be let for construction in 2007.

                   The Issues
*  The NYS DOT is studying  traffic safety & truck mobility along the Rte. 63 Corridor.
* The Rte. 63 Bypass Committee and the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce propose a new highway through the area.
              The RPL Says:
DON'T BUILD A HIGHWAY: It would cost too much. The RPL proposes making the Thruway more efficient for trucks & the Rte. 63 Corridor less attractive for trucks.
* DON'T BUILD A HIGHWAY: Wyoming, Livingston, and Genesee Counties are New York's last truly agriculural region. Let's preserve it instead of destroying it.
