Leather Making
Leather is the most basic form of crafting. You can make simple armour, of which rangers are good fans, because it is flexible and doesn't impair visibility.
To make leather, collect either cow hides or dragon hides from killing the relevant creature. There is a cow field outside Lumbridge (Atlas). Now, take this to the tannery in Al Kharid. Speak to the tanner, and he will charge you for converting the hides into leather. You can get normal or hard leather from cow hides, and dragon leather from dragon hides. Normal leather costs 1gp per hide, hard leather 3gp, and dragon leather 20gp. You will need a needle and some thread; these can be bought from the crafting shop in Al Kharid. One reel of thread will make five leather items. Use the needle with a piece of leather, and you will be given a choice of objects to make. Studs can be added to normal leather body or chaps to increase their strength. Smith studs from steel, and then use them with the object (Smithing guide).
