  If you want to become a better athelete, you have to train hard.  In the game of basketball, one part of the important athleticism is explosion.  If you would like to improve your explosion (ex: vertical jump, speed), then I suggest you try Air Alert II.  It worked great for me, and I am sure it can help anyone to some degree.  Stick with the program and you will improve.
  Another way to improve your basketball athleticism is to use jump soles, or strength shoes.  They are shoes with a block on the front end of your toes, and therefore places 600% more weight on your calves.  Your calves are important for jumping, and jump soles extremely help this aspect.  Whatever you wish to improve in your game, practice these exercises wearing the strength shoes.  If it's jumping, go try touching rim a few times.  If its explosive running, sprint.  Whatever you decide, I suggest starting off VERY slow.  Run about a half a mile, or do the exercises provided with the shoes.  Do not do both on your first day.  Running half a mile provides about the same soreness as all of the exercises for me.  It all depends on the amount of time you are willing to put in.  You can't get anything out unless you put anything in.
