Promise renewed
Jennifer awakens as a child, in a version of the orphanage unaffected by her memories of the airship.  She can now see things the way they truly were and reflects on her life there, as well as each of the other orphans.  It dawns on her that even the higher girls of the Aristocracy had problems.  Eleanor was unable to find the happiness she was looking for because of her cold heart, Meg was bound by her foolish devotion to a girl who could care less for her, and Diana was chained by her own ideals, which she could never seem to reach.  Wendy is the only one at the orphanage besides herself, pleading Jen not to leave her.  But Jen does, leaving her guilt behind her as well.  Gregory is at the bus stop, once again a man devoted to writing stories for his son.  Brown is now a puppy, waiting for her in the shed.  They are all the people who cared for her during those unlucky, tragic times-the people she wants to keep close to her heart.
After her reunion with Brown, Jen builds a Bucket Knight near him, writing down her promise on the chalkboard at its feet.  This is to ensure that she never forgets it again. She puts Brown's collar on him, which is tied to a pole nearby.  This represents her keeping him bound to her heart forever.  As she leaves the she, she smiles, vowimg to protect her memory of him until the day she dies.  She then returns to the bus stop and rides on the bus.
Jennifer awakens in the park, to the feeling of rain on her face.  She is on the wet grass of the park, where she had apparently fell asleep.  A stray dog is by her side, looking eerily like her old friend.  As the tears flow down her cheeks, mixing with the drops of rain, she pulls the dog into an embrace.  A airship with the fin of a fish swims off into the distance, perhaps the last of her twisted memories, disappearing into the horizon.
