| Betty gave Benton a big smile, being genuinely delighted to meet him,
and he responded with a pleasant, if rather confused, smile of his own.
"Sgt. Benton," he said. "Pleased to meet you, too, miss."
"And this is Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart," said the Doctor, indicating
the other man in the room.
"Yes," said Betty, who, of course, knew exactly who the Brigadier was.
"Good to meet you, as well, Brigadier."
He did not respond to her directly, but instead turned to the Doctor
with an annoyed look. "Doctor, need I remind you that this is a
top secret facility? We simply cannot have you continually bringing in
unauthorized personal without clearing it with me first!"
The Doctor simply waved this off, and Betty had to stifle a smile. This
was, indeed, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart just as she had seen him on her
TV set...
Her amusement faded, however, as her eyes once again fell upon the sheet-covered
body. She felt terribly sorry that she hadn't arrived early enough in the
"episode" to warn the Doctor about the crystal's effects and save the poor
man's life.

Speaking
of the crystal, the Doctor had just pulled it out of his pocket, and was
contemplating it with a thoughtful expression.
