The final time, she jarred the door open.
"Unlocked?" Louise asked. "Apparently so." Sigourney poked her head in the door. "Hello?" She called out. "Anyone home?" "What's inside?" "I can't see too well," she replied. "But I don't seem to hear anyone moving about. I think it's deserted." "Look!" Louise exclaimed. Next to the door was a lantern, its flame undistinguished in broad daylight. "What do you two think?" Thelma asked. "Should we go in or not?" "It's awfully dark," Sigourney said, still peering inside. "I'd hate to trample someone else's home up, or for us to get hurt ourselves bumbling around." "Yeah, but surely the owner will be along before long." "Well, we can't just stand here all day!"
