Now, back to Erica's situation!

The Champions were able to track down and contact her with their proposition. She, after seeing that it was sincere, agreed.

After a near riot with some of the adoring town locals (a bout of chaos energy induced Erica worship), the Champions are able to get on with the next bit of business. Namely, how to hand the reigns of power over from Prince Aaron (who'd be leaving this world soon as this Quest was over) over to Princess Illura safely. Well, the plan that they came up with was to fake an assassination, framing a Minister of Commerce who'd actually been involved with the death of King Hengist (and Aaron was going to have to deal with sooner or later because of that anyway). It would be not only politically expediant, but also justice. The minister was responsible for a death, but would be only getting hung for an unreal one so justice would be served.

Things didnt go quiet as planned, though. Originally, the plan had been to fake an assassination by poison. However, the person who would have been framed for it went about and actually had someone attempt a real assassination (complete with poison arrow). Well, Aaron was a Champion now and couldn't die from the poison, but was severely disabled for a bit there. Well, the others rolled (actually Synizn) with things and managed to create a convincing corpse (via magic). The real Aaron, meanwhile, was first hidden from view in the form of a female fox (i.e. Andrea in her full fox form) and then as a castle servant (that was an interesting adventure in and of itself, being Aaron wasn't the most humble of servants).

Anyway, the assassin was tracked down and killed. However, the adventure wasn't quiet over yet. There were still those "opposition mages" out there that were still out to kill Rebecca!

At first, they had tried summoning some dark elf assassins to finish off Rebecca. The idea being that the elves would sneak in, gaining the trust of the New Amazonian guards by saying that they'd been victims of a Chaos Energy surge. Then, when the time was right the elves would sneak into Rebecca's quarters and kill her. The idea here was that the mages thought that Rebecca was going to be the doom for this world and only by her death would this world be saved. Ironic, is it not, that that was exactly the opposite thing that would happen if these assassins were successful? Then there is the ironic idea of using evil means (or in this case evil monsters that would be those dark elf assassins) to accomplish good ends, but I'll not go into the moral arguments over that here.

A real irony here is that the two elves that got summoned were only "proto Dark Elves". Meaning that while they looked like full fledged Dark Elves, they hadn't "gone over to the Dark Side" as some might say. These two elves' story is found here! That said, when the opposition mages summoned for Dark Elf assassins, they got these two instead (on their very wedding night)!

Enough said on the last....

Now, why didn't the proto Dark Elves tell the opposition mages that they weren't assassins? First, the thing here is that the elves didn't trust these strangers, worrying that the mages might turn upon them if they did! Then there was the fact that they both had a burning conviction that they were there to actually save this world, and perhaps the death of this "Rebecca" woman was the means to that end. See, as part of their Validation Quest, the Rules and Agents had (in negotiating with the Demons for the proto Dark Elves release) inflicted temporary amnesia upon the two elves. So they knew that this world was in danger and they must help, but all knowledge gained after their rescue from their would be Dark Elven torturers was inaccessible. They didn't even know that they were Champions!

Things got straightened out after a being intercepted and interrogated by Jarlath's group. Artizza and Fertal joined up with Jarlath's group and even aided them in the one final assassination attempt by the opposition mages. With the death of the last assassin, Jarlath's group (and a few friends) are swept back to Terra Prime.

Jasmine and her family got left behind on Aaron's world, to raise her family and to advice the new Queen on political matters on that vastly changed world.

Scott Chen and family rejoined Star Fleet and what comes of that remains to be seen. However, there is the buzz of some kind of political scandal coming from the grapevine. Remains to be seen what exactly that is all about.

Aaron and his wife, Joan, went off to enjoy their new marriage as well as to see Aarnon's displaced sister. See, Aaron's sister's spirit, the real Rebecca, had been displaced by "our" Rebecca. The Rules and Agents (or Somebody) had created a new mermaid body for her as compensation. In all, it was an odd but pleasing family reunion....

Cuthbert and his wife, Joan 2, had gone off to enjoy some "quality time", alone, with each other. We'll leave them at that. For now, they were done with adventuring. For now, anyway.

Andrea and Synizn, meanwhile, are also going their own way right now for "quality time" as well . . . This leaves the remainder of Jarlath's group (which now included Artizza and Fertal) for the NEXT adventure! The Light Elves, Lueoth and Ia'adoire, getting to know their newest family members decide to join up with Jarlath's group for the foreseeable future.

All in all, a very interesting coupling....

And now onto the next Quest!

This Quest is yet another Validation Quest!

It involves both Jenny Elf and Tarin Gazin 2, who are traveling with Jarlath's group to their next destination via a faux TARDIS. . . . . 1
