Story
The world was on a new frontier in technology. They had achieved making Artificial Intellegence capable of carrying out everyday chores as well as much more difficult tasks. However, the countries had major arguements about how the AI should be treated. Some Countries felt that AI should be treated like normal people. Others saw them as valuble tools that could help humanity from day to day. Alas some more countries thought that this was playing God. Little did they know that one country was working on a secret project that would inadvertantly change the world.
At this point the world was somewhat over populated, with not a single square mile without a family living in it. Though their still was wildlife, such as forest and deserts, people had learned to live within the wilderness while causing little change. The cities highrises had grown even higher and more dense for not only businesses, but homes, stores, schools, and anything else that people would need. People in the city saw very little reason to go outside due to every need being inside a nearby building that was only an underground tunnel or subway away. There was even a law that stated that there must be a subway station at least one every 100 square miles.
Though most of the world was in war with one another, most of the people remained unaffected. That is until that secret project was launched toward a specific target. Unfortunatly it overshot that target and hit somewhere near the Antartic. This is what caused the worlds continents to shift in such a way.
Something was released into the atmosphere that caused people to become very ill. Most of the people died, but some of those who survived it were mutated into different creatures or discovered that they now possesed new powers. At first they were met with hostility, but over the years they were eventually accepted.
It was decided by the new world that most technology would be outlawed and talk of the old world would be banned. That wasn't the only important decision made because of the event, which became known as the breaking. Two new governments were formed. One was called the Kingdom of the East, which was what use to be North America and South America. The other was called the Kingdom of the West and consisted of Asia, Europe, Africa, and Australia (map coming soon) . The two kingdoms were separated by a mountain range that was once known as Japan. The land mass was soon given a new name, Valheden.
After a few years and several new generations the memories of the world before were forgotten. Some of the old buildings still stand, but some lay in ruins among the cities. Though the modern buildings remain in use, old-fashion technology is all that is used. The population decreased greatly, and most of them prefered to live in the wilderness. Now this is the world of Valheden, and the people have never known the difference. Though discussion of the old world is forbidden, rumors of it still exsist.
