One fateful day in 1999, several young women attending the University of Connecticut made a decision that would change their lives and mine. They made the decision to start an all female a capella group tragically named Rubyfruit

Clearly these fine young ladies with beautiful voices and a zeal for a capella music were unaware of the beauty that is umlaut. Those two little dots delicately placed over vowels like a and o and u represent aural ecstasy. The umlaut is a cue to let your mouth go wild and mix the sensuous ee sound with the wild unchained melody of other vowel sounds.

It is the hope of the Worldwide Coalition For Adding Umlauts To Rubyfruit's Name that someday the current members of Rubyfruit will heed our call, and change their name to Rübyfrüt, with it's decorative scandanavian look and lilting vocal feel.
