Snowy Adventures of the Cold and Wet
I had to convince Marcus to go try this with me--  We went showshoeing up the old Blewett Pass road in the middle of January.  There was no snow at that time in Ellensburg left (it has snowed since though), so we were wondering exactly where we were going with this group we'd never met before.  (We just hopped in a van and hoped they were going to return us sometime.)
The snowshoes proved to be some neat inventions.  We could do all sorts of things we'd never done before- like walk on top of really deep snow, and even climb really high and steep hills (there were claws on the bottom of the shoes).  This is the first time Marcus climbed up this hill, then slid down quite quickly on his back.  I went up and did the same twice, though I didn't mean to slide down on my stomach the second time!  Brrrrr.... snow up the shirt!
Here is Marcus looking cool (well, warm with all that clothing on, including my scarf) on a little shortcut we took through the woods.  The road turned back on itself and we figured it would be faster... though we soon lost the rest of the group.
Here was a great view (it's the same as in the first picture of Marcus and me).  We decided we were cold and wet from sliding down the mountain and we'd like to sit down for a while.  So, here are my snowshoes that we stuck into the snow while we relaxed a little, not minding that our behinds were going numb.
As Marcus went to sit on my scarf I laid out, he completely just fell back hoping not to hurt himself.  It's hard to move with snowshoes on!  He made such a huge butt-print in the ground that he made me take a picture of it.  I sat on the right side in this photo, and he sat on the left in the crater filling with snow.  :)
