| The first step is to place the four white edge pieces, forming a cross shape on the white face and matching the stickers on the sides of the cube with their corresponding centers. This is actually much simpler than is seems. You can do it one piece at a time, if you like. It is helpful to know the relative location of the colors around the sides of your cube. This step is almost always done intuitively, that is, most people do it without memorising anything, but merely figuring out how to solve each case as it comes up. | |||||||||||||||||
| Examples: | |||||||||||||||||
| If one edge is in the correct place but flipped wrong, hold the cube so that it is located in both the Front and Up sides (denoted as UF), with the white center on U, and do F U' R U. If an edge's white sticker is in the D layer, it can be solved by turning the D layer until the edge's non-white sticker matches up with the corresponding center (both the same color), then holding the cube so that white is still on U and the piece is at FD, then doing the move F2. |
