| Forever Yearning She walks the beaches under full moonlight or is that only when she can be seen on the bay? for the sunlight would pass through her misty figure should she walk the same path in the light of day There's a legend passed down for two hundred years of how she lost her life to the cliffs above when fearing her lover was drowned at sea she could no longer go on without his precious love The tale that is told, throughout the town how she lost her mind from a heart that yearned little did she know that he felt not the same he was not lost at sea, but just never returned So now she awaits his ship every night when the moon rises full, in the darkened sky hoping the lighthouse will soon guide him home and often times, she can be heard to cry He was a dashing rogue of just twenty and five and had a way with the ladies in every port she gave him her heart, her soul, her life but to him, she was just all part of his sport He wooed her with words of sweetness and charm a repertoire that he played so well his words could excel any music concerto and make a girl's heart begin to swell He would then sail away, after a week or two where his ship would take him, to yet other lands and there he would find new conquests of passion but he would never put a ring on any girl's hand still awaiting his arrival, from another realm she will walk the beaches for centuries more for he loved her not, she played a fool's game she lost at love but unaware of the score Now the town's people, see her night after night her ghostly figure, walking the beach all alone maybe one day someone will find the courage to approach and tell her, it is now time to move on ~PennyLynne~ |
