Lennon/McCartney
Rating:
*** (good)
This
was the first song recorded during the Rubber Soul sessions, but it was
included as the last track of the B-side, probably because John hated it. But I
think that his great vocal and George’s lovely guitar save the song.
John
(1980): “It has a line from an old Presley song. ‘I’d
rather see you dead little girl than to be with another man’ is a line from an
old blues song that Presley did once. Just sort of a throw-away song of mine
that I never thought much of... but it was always a favorite of George’s.”
Recorded: October 12, 1965 at Abbey Road, London, England Instrumentation: Paul McCartney - bass guitar, backing vocal George Harrison - lead guitar, backing
vocal Ringo Starr - drums, tambourine |

RUN
FOR YOUR LIFE Well I’d rather see you dead, little girlThan
to be with another man You
better keep your head, little girl Or
I won’t know where I am You’d
better run for your life if you can, little girl Hide
your head in the sand, little girl Catch
you with another man That’s
the end, little girl Well
you know that I’m a wicked guy And
I was born with a jealous mind And
I can’t spend my whole life trying Just
to make you toe the line
Hide
your head in the sand, little girl Catch
you with another man That’s
the end, little girl Let
this be a sermon I
mean everything I’ve said Baby,
I’m determined And
I’d rather see you dead You’d
better run for your life if you can, little girl Hide
your head in the sand, little girl Catch
you with another man That’s
the end, little girl I’d
rather see you dead, little girl Than
to be with another man You
better keep your head, little girl Or
I won’t know where I am You’d
better run for your life if you can, little girl Hide
your head in the sand, little girl Catch
you with another man That’s
the end, little girl |
