Moms, letting out a silent sigh, smiled as she turned to the entertainment section of the newspaper. The Cameo was going to be showing Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House starring Cary Grant, Myrna Loy and Melvin Douglas.
Looking at the clothing ads, Moms made a mental note to head to The Boys Shop to pick up some new long sleeve T-shirts for the boys. They were on sale for $1.00. Underwear was 65 and socks were 40. Mart could use some new dungarees too and those were on sale for $1.95. Seeing an ad for Carole King dresses for teens, she glanced up at Trixie, imagining her in the wool-and-rayon plaid design Carole called Classic Drama. What a lovely dress it was and the perfect name of a dress for Trixie. At only $15.95, it was a steal, but she knew her daughter.
Getting up and going out to the kitchen to make cocoa and get their dessert dished up, Moms stopped to survey the living room. What a wonderful cozy scene. The Bob-Whites were playing a noisy game of Monopoly and shrieking with laughter when Mart was hauled off to jail. Bobby, along with his Tonka Steam Shovel, was on Peters lap listening with rapt attention to Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel. My oh my, thought Moms. Ive heard that story just about as many times as I have Peter Rabbit. Reddy was in a corner chewing on the roast beef bone.
Her husband, the Bob-Whites, Bobby and Reddy were all home and safe and sound. All was right with her world.
