~*NOTICE*~ This website is no longer maintained. This site only depicts the soldiers of B Co's 2nd plt from 2000/2001. ~*THANK YOU*~

All Paratroopers need to be in excellent physical shape. All that jumping and road marching can take a toll on you and if you are not in excellent shape you will not be able to accomplish your mission.

As a Rough Terrain Paratrooper, physical fitness takes a whole new meaning when we jump into an "austere" environment. As in a heavily wooded area or rocky hillside, we will be all alone until we accomplish our primary mission of clearing a landing zone for follow on forces.

Take a look at our PT program. It is conducted from 0630-0745 five days per week. When Training time allows, the Platoon also does PT every afternoon prior to recall.

Monday.......Ablility Group Run.

We hate Monday just like everyone else. We begin Monday morning with a 4-6 mile ablility group run. We have 2 abilitly groups in the company....Fast and Faster. The average 2 mile run time in the platoon is around 13 minutes with some soldiers like SGT Triner and PFC Yepez in the 10 minute area.

Tuesday......Platoon Pt.

Platoon PT Days are focused on improving areas such as push-up and sit-up, or "fun" events like obstacle course, rifle PT, bayonet training, pugil bouts and hand-to-hand combat.

Wednesday......Roadmarch.

Wednesday is SGT's time training and we begin the day with a road march. Minimum distance is 5 miles with a 50lb rucksack. All memebers of the platoon are required to complete a 20km (12.4 mile) roadmarch. All of the soldiers in the platoon are able to complete the 20km roadmarch in 3 hours or less. The remainder of the day is dedicated to training on METL tasks such as demolitions, patrolling, ambush, recon etc....

Thursday......Hendrick Stadium.

Hendrick Stadium is a smoker. We start out at 0615 with a warm up and quickly move into push-up and sit-up improvement. There is little or no rest between sets and we usually do around 400 push-ups and sit-ups.

When the upper body and abs are smoked, we do several sets (usually 5 or so) of 100 yard sprints followed by running up and down the stadium steps.

Finished? Nope.... When we are finished witht the steps, we do 4 sets of lunges. Each set of lunges is for 100 yards and we finish each set by doing 10 squats with your battle buddy on your back. If 400 yards of lunges aren't enough to smoke you, then you get our "Iron Man" award.

Once the lunges are done, we "cool down" with more push-ups and flutter kicks. By now it is 0800 and time for a quick shower, a bite to eat and head out for training.

Friday......Company Run.

We close the week with a little 4-6 mile run. The whole company participates in this one.
