Rsplash's Baja Bug
And the Adventure or Nightmare Continues
Here is the Dirt Beast as it is now. I have decided to remove the dash pad and leave it off, making it look like a little older VW. I like it better off.  The Baja is moving right along. The wiring is finally completed, I have installed the new fuse panel and spent countless hours reading wire diagrams. After talking with Speedy Jim and de-cyphering the Vintage Bus website I now have the lights, brakes, dash interior lights all working.
04/15/2003 was the day for the title hearing. I now have a copy of the title and it is in my name. The story on that was that, I bought the bug from a friend at the body shop, well,... I say bought, anyway, He gave me the bug if I would haul it out of his way. But there was NO title to it. I had to trace the Title back 4 owners until The County finally had a name that was  on the title. From there, I had to send them a letter showing that I had the car and make sure that they didn't want it back.  After a month of waiting now I have the Title and it should be here in a few more days.
04/17/2003: A guy that I work with called and asked if I still had a bug for sale. He had been by the house and saw the other bug I have sitting in the driveway, but didnt realize who it belonged to. After we talked for a while, he and I  decided to do some trading. He is going to do the body work and paint for the other bug I have sitting. Fair Deal if you ask me. It will be sometime in the early summer or we will wait until fall to do the paint job.
Later that evening, I pulled the dash pad off and finished  the wiring.

Here are some updated photos:

Painting has started on the Baja. Dash has been painted and now work begins on the rest of the Beast. The rear piece has been installed and is now painted.
The Hood has been repaired and is in the process of sanding.
